Was super impressed looking at Fairleigh Dickinson's offensive numbers so it was time to pull up the ol Google Earth machine and see what was going on 😂 Highly recommend going down the rabbit hole of some mid-major ballparks for some 'stat validation'. Big series this weekend at home vs Long Island. Winner wins the NEC title.

@JermaineCurtis Should not be an unpopular opinion!! deGrom was a SS until his JR at Steson, can win a Cy Young specializing late! Lots of other examples too

Unpopular opinion: I would never pay for pitching lessons early. Hitting lessons? Absolutely. If you can hit, you can stay on the field. A player with a good arm can always transition to pitching later. It’s much harder the other way around.

@Joe_Eisenmann @coachgambetta Marinovich Project 2.0, create life long athletes and movers who know dad still loves them even if they don’t make it to the league. Been fun so far, aim to keep it that way too

There are really only 2 contact outcomes that consistently produce hits: Ground balls Line drives Fly balls usually create outs without the right exit velocity. Think about it.

@DrSwim_Phil @stevemagness Taking the kids back to these classics for that reason! Pokemon Red/Blue are next, I want them to experience that friction of grinding out 50 hours of game play to get crushed at the indigo plateau and then having to figure it out

@stevemagness That and the 90s video games truly were built on problem-solving skills and learning to handle adversity/pressure. Ask a kid nowadays to try and beat Super Mario Bros without any hacks/cheats/unlimited lives…..😂

In the 1990s, parents worried that video games would rot our brains. They don’t. Why? They are actively engaging & everyone clearly understands that it's entertainment. What actually rots your brain? Cable News. Why? It’s passive and many don’t clearly see that it’s entertainment

@CoachWheel Lots of stuff in public works as a box jump, and the kids have no idea they are training when you say “can you jump up there and do a 360 down?” This is fun to do in the living room as well!

@JermaineCurtis @tarksmarks44 @anymanfitness Happy I saw this, going to follow. Been wanting to do this for my kids. But you are right, not sure I’ve met someone with a high level playing experience that wants to rush kids into the tournament grind. Too many reps to get in and mental work needed to make it to the league.

Some parents drove 3-5 hours today and spent hundreds of dollars… just to watch their son walk 4 times. Do this instead: Pay a local kid $20 to throw to your son for an hour instead. He’ll probably get more development from that than another travel ball weekend.

@CoachDHansen Life hack: race your kids through out the week so you both get sprints in When the boys finally beat me it’s gonna be awesome, but I’m going to hang on for as long as possible haha

Parents. Your 9-year-old does not need a speed program. They need to sprint. All-out. Twice a week. 6-8 reps. That’s it. The industry built a $2B problem out of a free solution

@plewisbaseball Told my wife that I wasn’t selected as a coach for coach pitch this year that I would be emailing the park district until they hold a pitching assent for the coaches 😂 This would have had me back and forth between the concession stand all game haha

@CoachRobStacy4 Gotta respect the game! I’ll carve out a min or two at the end of t ball practice to make sure we’re locked in this year. And I’ll be sure to leave out the bit of wearing your glove/helmet in line as protection haha

In this era of sports why has the post game hand shake line turned into player trash talk & where coaches air their grievances… I’ll gladly be in the minority for this concept but I believe it’s over rated. Circa 2020-21 the no hand shake team hat tip was something I felt

@CoachRobStacy4 Reminds me of my baseball coach at 14 reprimanding us for not taking our gloves into the hand shake like if we were coming off the field, because we should have them on if we needed to catch punches from the other team. No clue where he picked that up, but it sure stuck haha

@CoryM2424 - Change the scale of the environment. The reason this kid is not kicking the ball hard is because the environment doesn't afford it. Kids that age don't "practice", they play. Find/make a game. playplus.substack.com/p/whats-in-a-g… There are a few more "game" posts on my substack, they can get pretty philosophically deep. Watch yourself... BTW, I've been a coach of elite athletes as well as a dog trainer and was an elite collegiate athlete myself who was well (and not so well) coached... just wanted to put that out there. Some people get offended when dog trainers or dog training is used as an example. I'm not a dog trainer by any traditional standards. Best.

And then there are some 2.5yr olds doing this. Developing the neural pathways between the feet and the brain. 😉⚽️
Cory@CoryM2424

@tomsan106 Golden age is 2-4, but my 2.5yo usually doesn’t want to practice foundational skills and ball control. He loves ⚽️ but wants to run and chase the ball all day kicking it as hard as he can. Is it an age/attention thing or are there tricks to get him to practice more control?

Our COO sent me a Slack: “Laptop is dead, nothing works, fix ASAP.” I checked the monitoring tool. His battery was at 1% and the charger wasn’t plugged in. I could’ve just messaged: “Plug it in.” Instead I opened a ticket, categorized it as a Severity 2 Power Incident. Asked him for screenshots of the problem. He sent a photo of a black screen. I scheduled a remote session for 30 minutes later “to run diagnostics.” At minute 29 I told him to verify his power source as Step 1 of the troubleshooting script. He plugged it in. Laptop turned on. I documented the resolution as “User Education: Introduced to Concept of Electricity.” The ticket remains a permanent part of his audit trail. For “trend analysis.”

@frog_hours_tcg @FordysPokestop That’s sick!! It seems like a bad lesson to teach the kids to keep ripping, when I could give them the option to turn it into 15 IRs for the binder instead of maybe 1 from ripping, if we’re lucky We’ll keep ripping PO for that Meowth haha

@ryanstephens Kids are capable! I would never allow that, coaches only on the field. I taught my t ball team how to pick up the bat on the way to the dugout out and high five their teammates after scoring. Was rough the first week or two, but by week six we were a well oiled machine

I’m not sure how yet, but putting 9 adults in the field in T-ball is contributing to the downfall of society. We had 2 when I was growing up, tops.

@alexlubyansky_ @Ellis_ I agree with you that is why I was wondering. I can’t watch anther practice of minimal touches and water breaks every 5 min. Guess I am going to have to start it myself Maybe in 10 years I’ll have a team to drive over and play you!

Will never do it! Senior only. Youth should figure it out without our involvement. Our senior model HELPS youth tho. We have absolutely zero bias. For that reason, even if you play recreational soccer or street soccer, you are equally adapt to show up at our tryout and make our team. That is where we are hoping to help impact youth football in this country.
