@Smileyyeg I'm really curious where you live because in Boston, spending 50 minutes commuting 3 miles and paying $50+ for parking daily is definitely worse than taking a $2 25 minute train ride.

just looking at what expensive houses in other states look like out of curiosity and there is some horrifying stuff. See a "luxury" house in vegas but then you zoom out and its on a block with 20 copies of the exact same house on tiny lots every single house here is >$2m

@venom1s It has nothing to do with age and everything to do with what's listed below. Guarantee she isn't interested in the actual average 38 year old that makes $85k/year, had $100k net worth and looks like this.

Things more dangerous than $7 coffees: - $40,000 wedding ($5,000/hr party) - $80,000 degree that gets you a $50,000/yr job - $40,000 car loan because you "earned it" - $2,000/mo apartments to flex for friends ...Thats why 80% of people are broke.

@CoachDanGo Love my air fryer but let's be real, it's not giving you fried food without oil. It's crispier but still a long way from being fried.

Having an air fryer is a cheat code. You get fried foods without drenching it in oil and you can reheat food without using a microwave. It also makes it so easy to cook tasty food. One of the best investments I’ve made in my kitchen.

@MurrayHillGuy1 As opposed to the life of our ancestors, working 12 hours a day on a farm, walking a mile to the well to lug back 40 pounds of water multiple times a day for drinking/cooking/cleaning, never exploring more than 5 miles from your house?

Typical timeline of the American normie: • Varsity athlete in HS (peaked at 17) • Big Ten/SEC school, blacked out Thurs–Sat • Moves to a “fun” city for 3–4 years to continue college lifestyle • Slowly becomes a slave to a normie desk job • Settles for a beautiful mid at 31 because “it’s time” • Promoted a few times, still checks Slack at 9pm • Buys a house 45 min outside the city in the suburbs • Gains 30 lbs and calls it a “dad bod” • Develops a concerning addiction to gardening/lawn care and Costco runs • Sees friends 3x a year if lucky • 2 family vacations a year (one beach, one obligatory holiday) • Pops out a kid to run the exact same script is this the dream or did we all just agree to it?

@UziCryptoo You can skip the wedding, buy a used car for $15,000, and live with roommates to cut rent in half and still be broke, that's the real problem.

@FICMBondTrader Most remote jobs aren't truly remote, they need you working in certain timezones and also don't want to deal with taxes in a foreign country. Not to mention remote jobs are drying up anyway.

I really don’t understand how someone making sub 150k in the USA doesn’t leave for Thailand / Vietnam / etc USA at that pauper pay rate is basically indentured servitude for 40 years and die Your quality of life will increase DRAMATICALLY leaving
Documenting Saylor@saylordocs

$5,000/month USD is around $155,000/month in Thailand. That’s luxury condo, daily massages, great food, zero stress. You’re not rich in the West… but you live like a king in Thailand. Now you understand why people are moving there.

@wil_da_beast630 Men and women are supposed to be able to do it all. Provide, cook, clean, caretake. Labor is divided based on who can do it best based on the situation, not gender. If you can't cook at all, that's a gap that negatively impacts a household's flexibility.

A serious, non-trolling question: what exactly are women supposed to DO in modern relationships? I know reality doesn't reflect the Internet, this below is likely from Bahrain, couples likely work out the ancient ritual language of "head = actual massage (and maybe breakfast!)." But, what...is the Online Feminist ideal? Just make the 22-34% of the money and scream "Nope! NOT HERE!!!" a lot?

Men who can't cook are just boys looking for a second mother. Period

@jonbrooks It is supply. Job opportunities are centralizing in major metros and cities, putting pressure on supply. The glut of available supply is where there are limited opportunities like Appalachia.

Everyone keeps saying America has a “housing shortage.” It doesn’t. Divide total homes by population and you get this: We’ve never had more housing per person than we do right now. The problem isn’t supply. It’s prices.

As a waiter I sat there staring at my one hundred dollar receipt with a zero dollar tip next to it and I could not help thinking about how wild people can be 😒. Eating at a nice restaurant like it is nothing but acting like tipping is optional. The servers are running around all night carrying hot plates, refilling glasses, dealing with loud tables, smiling through attitudes, and somehow a person thinks leaving nothing is fine. If you do not have money to tip, why walk into a place you cannot afford 💁🏻‍♀️. Tipping should be automatic. It is part of the cost of dining out. People want luxury food with fast food effort. Meanwhile the servers rely on tips to pay their bills. They go home with sore feet and tired backs while someone who just enjoyed a full meal walks out leaving zero. It is embarrassing behavior. If you can afford the meal, you can afford to take care of the person who made the experience possible 💸. That is just real life. DO BETTER, TIP NO MATTER WHAT.🗣️🗣️🗣️ Credit: Patricia

@kbo_coyote @theficouple "Create a home based income" isn't a very clear cut path to improvement and could wind up costing more money if it fails. Working full time is probably a more realistic and efficient path, assuming she could double her income.

@theficouple So, if the family is paying $18,000 a year for daycare, doesn't it make sense for the wife to stay home and create a home based income stream to replace the other $7k, instead of working part time to make $25k?

Met a nice couple in their mid 30's. Husband makes $78,000/yr & wife makes $25,000/yr part time. 2 kids and $1,500/mo for daycare. Rent is $2,500/mo & their $95,000 of debt costs them ~$1,900/mo. Living paycheck to paycheck & feeling trapped. What should they do first!?

@theficouple You probably make $100k because your rent is $3k. Very few places where rent is that much, and those few have lots of job opportunities that pay well.
