On the same day we are asked to cast our votes, we mark Harm Reduction Day. One is about voice. The other, too often, has become about managing silence. We are told harm reduction saves lives. And in the moment, it does. But without real pathways out, it becomes something else entirely. A system that keeps people breathing, but not living. We mobilise everything to protect the integrity of a vote. Debate, urgency, accountability. But when it comes to addiction, we have settled for maintenance without ambition. Care without expectation. Survival without hope. If this day is to mean anything, it must ask more of us. Not just how we keep people alive, but how we help them recover, rebuild, and return. Because a society that believes in second chances at the ballot box must believe in second chances in life. Otherwise, what exactly are we voting for? Harm reduction without recovery is not compassion. It’s containment dressed up as care.

Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable. India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security.
