@CoachSwit and there are literally hundreds of kids just in this area like that who don't get a sniff when these programs in the Midwest & Northeast could come down here and load up.

@CoachSwit 2/3 meanwhile here in the Houston area, every big HS baseball program is 6-8 arms deep that sit 87 and most have a couple arms that are low-90s. We have 2 seniors who are mid-major D1 signees- one sits 88 and the other 92- they combined for 19.1 innings last spring.

For all the velocity experts out there… So are we saying the pitcher who throws 85 mph, commands the zone, and can land two off-speed pitches for strikes anytime has no chance of playing D1 baseball? Or are we pretending those guys don’t still get outs? Just wondering?

@anymanfitness Baseball will probably be the best sport for my oldest and don't know what level yet but he'll definitely play past HS. Youngest is more athletic at the same age but different mindset plus he's gotta hit puberty first before I'd project anything for him.

@anymanfitness Oldest attends a HS with 4100 kids in the Houston area that is a state-title contender in every sport except golf & tennis with multiple collegiate signees every year.

When I was in high school, I played against Austin Kearns. He had just been selected #7 in the MLB draft but was still playing summer ball with his amateur team. He was - by FAR - the best player I’ve ever seen. He looked like an alien the way he hit and fielded the ball. As a pro, he was a journeyman, a career .240 hitter. He wasn’t even “good” by pro standards. Professionals are on another level.
Frank@gixxerfrank

@anymanfitness Most people have never actually seen a professional athlete except on TV, and don’t know what it looks like.

@ESPNRittenberg @mbpOn3 While A&M's history leaves a lot to be desired based on our resources, Penn State's history the last 30 years is one of beating also-rans and while getting beaten by any team in the top 25. They ain't Bama or Georgia or Ohio State of the last 30 years.

@mbpOn3 What do you mean dismisses? I mentioned him as a possibility for Penn State, someone the school absolutely should go after. Doesn't mean he will leave, and probably won't. Presenting the facts about the two programs in the last 30 years isn't being dismissive.

@JonahDispatch @LittleOlMe97 They have plenty of valid criticisms to make but when they choose to make an issue over a non-issue it degrades their credibility.

@LittleOlMe97 I think it’s the opposite problem. There are so many things to criticize that sometimes they criticize stuff they shouldn’t.

@baseball770 @shegone03 Those 6’ and 6’2” guys can still hit for the same average and have a high OBP but just by being bigger and stronger they’ll have a higher SLG and hit more nukes.

I only hit 26 HR’s during my career but I played at 5’9” 165 lbs and I was told by my coaches to hit line drives and ground balls and try to get on base for the Run Producers behind me. #shegone

Imagine hitting (.550) in HS, (.336), (.434), (.388) & (.455) (school record) in college, over (.300) in A, AA & AAA with a batting title in A ball, (.385) and a batting title in Winter Ball, over (.300) 3 times in the @MLB and being told by people on social media that you sucked! #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @SliderDominate @ROXSystem @BLocsports @JayGibbons15 @VictorRojas @TheRealJHair @DMEASrecruiting

@shegone03 @RealCJ10 The coach my boys work with stresses being confident, aggressive, and on-time. If you’re on time you give yourself a chance even if you have an imperfect swing. Plus, their goal is to always try to hit line drives between LC and RC.

@ChrisOsterman @Chandler_Rome What do you mean ”they didn’t try?” the organization made him the best offer he’s gotten. For all he’s done, Bregman ain’t worth what he wants to get and what Boras told him he could get. The Astros have done a great job. Thank Breggy for the memories and go get OF help.

During his address at the team's annual media luncheon, Dana Brown twice spoke about Alex Bregman in the past tense, saying once that the team "lost Bregman."

@CoachSwit Kids in Houston refusing to wear anything but shorts & t-shirts in 40-degree weather but then roll out in a thick hoodie, with the hood up when it’s 100-degrees in the summer. SMDH
