RIP prompt engineering ☠️ This new Stanford paper just made it irrelevant with a single technique. It's called Verbalized Sampling and it proves aligned AI models aren't broken we've just been prompting them wrong this whole time. Here's the problem: Post-training alignment causes mode collapse. Ask ChatGPT "tell me a joke about coffee" 5 times and you'll get the SAME joke. Every. Single. Time. Everyone blamed the algorithms. Turns out, it's deeper than that. The real culprit? 'Typicality bias' in human preference data. Annotators systematically favor familiar, conventional responses. This bias gets baked into reward models, and aligned models collapse to the most "typical" output. The math is brutal: when you have multiple valid answers (like creative writing), typicality becomes the tie-breaker. The model picks the safest, most stereotypical response every time. But here's the kicker: the diversity is still there. It's just trapped. Introducing "Verbalized Sampling." Instead of asking "Tell me a joke," you ask: "Generate 5 jokes with their probabilities." That's it. No retraining. No fine-tuning. Just a different prompt. The results are insane: - 1.6-2.1× diversity increase on creative writing - 66.8% recovery of base model diversity - Zero loss in factual accuracy or safety Why does this work? Different prompts collapse to different modes. When you ask for ONE response, you get the mode joke. When you ask for a DISTRIBUTION, you get the actual diverse distribution the model learned during pretraining. They tested it everywhere: ✓ Creative writing (poems, stories, jokes) ✓ Dialogue simulation ✓ Open-ended QA ✓ Synthetic data generation And here's the emergent trend: "larger models benefit MORE from this." GPT-4 gains 2× the diversity improvement compared to GPT-4-mini. The bigger the model, the more trapped diversity it has. This flips everything we thought about alignment. Mode collapse isn't permanent damage it's a prompting problem. The diversity was never lost. We just forgot how to access it. 100% training-free. Works on ANY aligned model. Available now. Read the paper: arxiv. org/abs/2510.01171 The AI diversity bottleneck just got solved with 8 words.

Every robot you see is a data firehose generating terabytes of chaos. This hidden crisis is the #1 reason robots fail, and it's costing the industry billions. You see hardware, but not the data swamp drowning engineers. In 2025, a quiet revolution is fixing it. Here’s how. 🧵

I have a deep hatred of debugging Sendgrid dynamic emails. I’m parsing json and only some of the JSON (thanks to @minimumstudio’s great json builder) is getting picked up. Try the output data in Sendgrid’s preview and it all works. Try the sandbox tester and comes back all ok.

Indie Hackers: spend 6 months on a their SaaS tool with $590/mo revenue @levelsio: $79k MRR (did 400k in one month?!) Landing page, stripe checkout link, Typeform redirect to upload your photos → Pieter manually put photos into a tool to make AI-generated versions, send them back. Do for up to 1-week to prove there's a business and automate each part. Full code solution came after the validation.

@PhilipLakin Spent a long time with airtable as a PM tool and would not use it again but really depends here on the jobs to be done which would need a deeper dive. Probably recommend to go full bespoke with bubble as long as the processes are well defined.

fyi we're building a @bubble plugin for this right now since apple _finally_ decided to support web push on safari mobile this means push notifications on @bubble apps (even on ios) WITHOUT having to wrap your app and go through the appstore process 😄
David Siegel@dvdsgl

Yesterday, Apple finally enabled push notifications for non-App Store apps! Our engineers dropped everything to make them work in @glideapps. Four hours later we sent our first push notification to a Glide app on iOS!

pretty cool, we figured out how to catch any error emitted by bubble on the client side and report it check the 'message' section, it even tells you the plugin where the error originates from (if the error came from a plugin in the first place)

I would pay a whole bucket of money for a super in-depth hours-long course on @stripe > @bubble integration.

Key learning for me: I’m 3-5x faster in @bubble development if I have finished designs in Figma. Yes, I can directly design and build from low fidelity in bubble, but it’s actually wrong. So the real cost is not $/hour for designer, but my productivity loss
