Trying to figure out what buildings to use in the downtown/CBD of Hunterville. Ended up with all this while picking out what buildings to tag in Find It. #CitiesSkylines #hunterville

One of my Nimby Rails saves based off one of the rail operation documents from a while ago. Very similar to the new train lines on the Auckland RTN map, plus some other busway stuff. (Black is Te Huia) #trains @AucklandTransp3

@SimeonBrownMP So a speed limit increase from 50km/h to 60km/h saves 12 seconds per km. With the potential for increased crashes and severity, an upgrade of an intersection to signals might be required. A new set of signals might add an average delay that is greater than the time saving.

@Globalsnowguy @hwkbantam @lachlanp_ I think the point is that average delay at intersections is unchanged and the couriers spend time loading an unloading parcels. So the result is that we wouldn't need 2x the couriers or whatever other comparable goods transport analogy.

@hwkbantam @lachlanp_ They can only cover half the distance...it's kilometers per hour...they have to travel slower. You need to drive from Timaru to Ashburton..it is 100km. Speed limit is 100kmph... now change it to 50kmph...can you get there in the same allowed time?

ThreeNews reported that Chris Luxon and Chris Bishop made their announcement to increase speed limits... on a corner of SH2 where someone had died in a car crash. Right next to the white memorial cross on the road barrier. So deeply grim. More people will unnecessarily die.

@Tiare_MP If the fines are that much total, then it clearly needed the permanent enforcement from cameras.

If people do not want to be fined for driving in a bus lane then maybe they should not drive in a bus lane

@GKoorey I'm in Miami at the moment and the area I'm staying in has residential speed limits of 25mph aka 40km/h. Even parts of the US get that a blanket 50km/h approach isn't appropriate for urban areas.

Been having fun with various speed limit debates this morning. It's an interesting truism on social media that people resort to personal attacks when they run out of actual arguments...

The juvenile pettiness of the GPS is quite something. This is almost the entirety of what the govt wants to achieve from investing in improved local roads.

@GKoorey Change from 110kph to 120kph only saves 5.0 minutes, and truck speed argument still stands.

@GKoorey At most, 110kph saves 5.5 minutes every 100 km versus a 100 kph road. That assumes the driver never has to react to anything, which is somewhat of a stretch. Furthermore, trucks can only legally do 90kph anyway, so actual benefits to the transport industry would be negligible.

Sigh... ironically the only "blanket" speed limits were when every urban road had to be 50kmh and every rural road 100kmh, regardless of their geometry, land-use, road user mix, safety record, etc...

@ScootFoundation Left image is likely signalised, but probably needs two lanes on the bridge approach to separate different movements. Second image is likely signalised with coordination with the main intersection.

This newish pedestrian and cycle crossing on Waimairi Road connects some student halls on Homestead Ln to New World Ilam by way of a modal filter at the end of Athol Tce. Was getting heavily used when I went past and is a really great addition.

Hi guys, in CS1, if I remove the crosswolks with TM:PE, to redraw them with IMT, they are no longer used by pedestrians. How can I erase the pedestrian crossings created at each intersection (make them invisible) while keeping them active? #CitiesSkylines

@LinzLinz44 @NZTransitBuzz @AklTransport They did this when round the bays was on too. There were one or two late evening services on the eastern line canceled, but at a glance buses replaced trains for the whole weekend
