Every year in Metro Vancouver, car crashes kill 100 people. We could get to zero if governments designed transportation systems to put safety first.

Very disappointed in @PtFry @rebeccaleebligh @seanorr - Your cheap political stunts end up intimidating and harassing non-political city staff, who are just trying to do their job. You know better than to bring cameras into staff work areas. #electrespect

Are cars getting too big? Is there any reason for it? We crashed the Vancouver Auto Show to try and talk to some automotive reps and find out first hand! youtube.com/watch?v=BJp37Y…

The six blocks of E Hastings St between Abbot and Carrall is the most dangerous area for pedestrians in all of BC. Fifteen years ago the city reduced the speed limit, but on the ground not much has changed. It's time for a major redesign: visionzerovancouver.ca/2026/03/17/has…

In 2023 @christineeboyle had a motion to lower the speed on Cornwall to 30km/h. @MikeKlassen amended it to 40km/h, under the guise of an umbrella of safety improvements which he bragged about. Now, council is recommending no further action. All we got was a deadlier speed.

A person caught excessively speeding and facing basically zero consequences kept speeding? "Go figure" indeed! (And why is 90 in a 50 not excessive??) This is what we mean when we say road violence is predictable and preventable.
VPD Traffic Section@VPDTrafficUnit

Here's one you don't see often...this driver stopped on Knight Street at 7:36 a.m. doing 90 in a 50 zone. Not enough for excessive speed, so ticketed and allowed to continue to child's sport activity. But, 12 mins later, stopped again for doing 81 on Terminal Ave. by different Enforcement member. Go figure! #WeAreOutThere #SpeedMaims

This is the 12th pedestrian fatality in Vancouver - that we're aware of - in 2025. (23 total when including Lapu Lapu). Last year "only" saw 7 pedestrian fatalities. The city is moving backwards on this and mayor @kensimcity is MIA. cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

We worked with Clr Maloney on a motion coming to council on December 10 to ban right turns on red at high-risk intersections. This is a low-cost, common-sense measure that will save lives. We need your help to tell council this matters! visionzerovancouver.ca/2025/12/04/dec…

Vision Zero Vancouver has had volunteers serve on the Transportation advisory committee. It's one of the few ways we could actually get the ear of council and it's led to positive change. We stand against this recommendation.

At today’s Council meeting, Mayor Ken Sim and the ABC Majority approved the 2026 Zero Means Zero Operating and Capital Budget. This budget delivers: ✅ Zero percent property tax increase ✅ Zero cuts to arts and culture grants ✅ Zero cuts to community centres and libraries ✅ Investment in critical infrastructure ✅ Investment in public safety ✅ Protection of frontline services ❌ OneCity’s Lucy Maloney ❌ COPE’s Sean Orr ❌ Vote Vancouver’s Rebecca Bligh ❌ Green Party’s Pete Fry All voted against this affordability-focused budget. As Mayor Ken Sim says, “Zero Means Zero is this Council’s commitment to affordability and making life more manageable for families and businesses across Vancouver.” ABC is delivering on a safer, more affordable, vibrant and well-run city. @KenSimCity When voting down the Halloween block party motion, @sarahkirby_yung said - among many other victim blaming comments - "I would never recommend that anybody wear all black." Interesting

Thanks @honchanbc for being part of the discussion and raising many excellent points. To the @bcndp - 300 people per year are killed on our roads. We need more training, not less. What is your plan to address this public safety crisis?

When a Vision Zero advocate, a Conservative MLA, and every single radio caller agree on an issue, you know something's up. Listen here, on the NDP's decision to jeopardize safety on our roads by reducing the already insufficient amount of driver training: cbc.ca/listen/live-ra…
