I don't think I've ever seen a company move this fast at YC. 492 days ago, @spencermateega and his co-founders walked into their YC interview to build software for the financial industry. The models weren't good enough yet — so mid-batch, they made a remarkable pivot: capture expert data and make the models themselves amazing. Today, they're announcing a $30M Series A and a $100M revenue run rate. They're hiring researchers, engineers, and operations people.

NEW ODD LOTS It's Interactive Brokers founder and chairman Thomas Peterffy on building a prediction market for professional (institutional) investors. Lots to dig into here. Peterffy is incredibly influential in markets, basically pioneering automated trading. He's very much worth listening to when it comes to future market structure developments. Some things @TheStalwart and I talk to him about: - Why prediction markets now? Peterffy says IBKR tried to set one up 10 years ago but got rebuffed by regulators. Then he tried to buy Kalshi instead and also got rejected. - IBKR is working on a consolidated feed of bets from across prediction platforms, and also trying to standardize prediction contracts to make them more fungible. - He doesn't think 'insider trading' is an issue in prediction markets, or for that matter, in the stock market either (despite saying he lost a lot of money to an insider trader in the past) Listen to the full thing below: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/tho…
