Would be hilarious if Burnham did win the by-election but can’t get the 81 names to challenge the PM.

@b_z_p1 I don’t disagree with your sentiment but the vitriol towards Starmer, forcibly messaged through the horrific losses in last week’s elections clearly rattled MP’s and members alike. I personally can’t see how Starmer could turn it around he has neither the vision nor personality.

@Stephen30193689 When have the voting public ever liked an incumbent Prime Minister? Just because we may not like him doesn't mean we just get rid of him not even 2 years into a 5 year mandate he won democratically. We can't keep going through PMs like Katie Price goes through husbands.

@ammandev Not for me. He’s done very well, granted, but he inherited a very stable, well run club and obviously could hit the ground running as an internal appointment. If he is able to achieve a similar result next season then yes, that would be a fantastic achievement.

Who’s YOUR Premier League Manager of the Season? 🤔 For me, such individual awards should be given to celebrate extraordinary achievements. And that’s Keith Andrews at Brentford. 👏🏽

@smallmargins1 @Beagle__Walking @faisalislam @BBCr4today It’s a cynical move to attempt to shore up her and her bosses job. I’m not denying some aid was indicated later in the year but we know full well the motivation for it now. If it’s targeted as originally indicated, it won’t create goodwill amongst the majority, anyway

NEW UK gilt yields up on opening about 10 basis points so 0.1% on opening to 5.1%… again some of that is pan European move on higher oil prices (France and Italy up 6 points this morning)… so markets taking notice of months of possible UK uncertainty and possible changes to fiscal policy

@markofagenius The Labour Party had c.532,000 members at the point Starmer became leader. It’s net declined by over 250,000 since then. Hardly a ringing endorsement is it?

The Labour Party has 20,000 new members. They joined to support Starmer as PM. Not to support rebels because they can’t vote for them for at least 6 months after joining.

@Richboxingbets @MatthewStadlen You may be right, I wouldn’t dispute that. Despite voting Labour in 2024, I wouldn’t dream of repeating that with Starmer in charge. He was pushing on an open door after the Tory chaos but has failed miserably, in my view

He's hardly Boris, come on. But lets assume he is much more personable, that would help initially, but policy matters over long-term. His policy manifesto will look almost identical to Starmer's. By the time of the next election is polling numbers would be similar. The best thing Labour could do, would be to stick with Starmer until six months before the next election. Then install Burnham. Its disgustingly cynical but its their best chance of winning the next election.

Has Andy Burnham actually got any policies? Apart from putting buses back under public ownership and capping fares at £2?

Because Keir Starmer is an adult. He’s not in it for the glory or ego. But it is apparent he’s not one of the boys either. He’s his own man, and many say he’s not good at politics. Well he turned Labour around and became Prime Minister.
Tony Diver@Tony_Diver

Keir Starmer issues a pretty gracious letter to Wes Streeting: "I am truly sorry you will no longer be sat at the Cabinet table helping to transform our National Health Service. But I have no doubt you will continue to play an important role in our party for many years to come."

@Bobhussain85 @gorbalsgoebbels @calculus52 Your point was that Labour always turned on its winners. We may be at cross-purposes but my point is that they were no longer ‘winners’ when they were turned on. Do you feel that Labour has turned on a leader when they were still ‘winning’ ?

@Stephen30193689 @gorbalsgoebbels @calculus52 Yep and you’re still proving my point. You don’t think people turned on Blair? All females quit Gordon’s cabinet and said he was sexist and mysognistic. You are literally proving my point

Surely we can all agree, no matter who we support, who it benefits and doesn’t. All walks of life can agree VAR has ruined football and is a massive load of wank and should be abolished (it won’t coz it generates too much money). Rant over…have a great day! 😉

@Bobhussain85 @gorbalsgoebbels @calculus52 Being a ‘winner’ isn’t a permanent descriptor, it can and does change. Its subjective, accepted but even the most ardent Starmer supporter cannot fail to accept that the current perception is negative
