@NedPepper01 @Magpie24_7 league isn't finished. We have been in the champions league 2 seasons out of 4, won a trophy and have been to Wembley for 2 finals. We have spent a bit but we had to make up for years of under investment. I don't think anyone expected us to do what we have done in that time

A Reality Check: Remember Where We’ve Come From If you’re one of the few seriously calling for Eddie Howe’s head or complaining after tonight, you need a massive reality check. It is time to remember exactly where we’ve come from and how fast we’ve traveled to get here, we are loyal and passionate to the end. Look, we have to be honest—yes, Eddie got things wrong tonight and other nights, and yes, players have made individual mistakes. But everyone makes mistakes, from the dugout to the pitch to everyday life. This season hasn't gone exactly to plan in every department, but we should be incredibly proud of how far this club has come in such a relatively short period of time. When you factor in the constraints of FFP and everything else that has been thrown into the mix, what this squad and manager have achieved is nothing short of a miracle. Not too long ago, our reality was Mike Ashley as an owner and the soul-destroying grind of the Championship. We were playing away to the likes of Rotherham on a cold Tuesday night, praying for a scrap of ambition. Fast forward to tonight: we’ve just been knocked out in the Last 16 of the Champions League against five-time winners Barcelona. The scoreline hurts, but there are levels to this sport. We’ve gone from the doldrums of English football to competing in the knockout stages of the greatest club competition on Earth. We’ve taken the Toon Army from Qarabag in Baku to Marseille, Leverkusen, and PSG, giving a brilliant account of ourselves every step of the way. Tonight, we simply ran out of gas against a world-class machine. There is no shame in that, and anyone suggesting otherwise has a very short memory. Now is the time to stay 100% behind the team. The best way to ensure we have a strong finish to the season is to get behind the lads right now. Starting from this weekend, we need to have a really, really good go between now and the end of the season to see if we can get back into Europe and salvage something massive from this campaign. The European lights are off for now, and the Tyne-Wear Derby is calling. We lick our wounds, we get back to Tyneside, and we get ready to roar the boys on against Sunderland. Forget the chatter—support the team, back the manager, and let’s win the derby! #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL #ChampionsLeague

@TheFinPitch @chrisbr65575302 @SkySports_Keith What about pep? City lost by 4 against Real and we lost by 5. Barca have been loads better than real this season and look at city's squad to ours. There isn't many managers with as much cl experience as pep

@NUFC360 That was humiliation - after quite a few embarrassing results this season. It's time to thank Howe and say goodbye before things get really sour

@chrisbr65575302 @TheFinPitch @SkySports_Keith You can be a champions league team without being a favorite to win it. Barcelona are one of the favorites and we played them 3 times and gave them a good game twice and did tonight until half time. I think we deserved to be in it and have had some good results

@TheFinPitch @SkySports_Keith Think we proved we were not a champions league club and won't be for a long time. Our defence is full of Titus brambles, solid one minute and a shambles the next. Need to replace all of them bar Hall in the summer but we won't have the money to do so

@Magpie24_7 It's YOU who needs a reality check if you think Howe can take us to the next level! Wasted millions, including 2 strikers deemed not even good enough to start in our biggest match of the season. I wouldn't give him another penny. Great bloke, but time to go. #Howeout

@Corey_Keith @VeganGeordie @nathangreennn They changed the rules for that exact reason - to stop us doing that. We have to be patient and increase our brand and whole youth infrastructure to compete with the best and its going to take years

@VeganGeordie @nathangreennn I really don’t understand it. I expected Newcastle to spend a ton on players, keep Howe for one season after that, and then bring in a manager who’s the cutting edge type tactically. They have the money to throw at any manager. Just copy the City playbook pre Mancini.

@FabrizioRomano Lies. He beat Klopp in every single title race. They only person to beat him in a TITLE RACE is Arsenal. Arteta broke klopp, caused him to retire. He's doing the same to Pep now. 2 years he's finished below Arsenal now.

@tjohnton66 @Magpie24_7 So we spend a year getting players used to our system then when they finally have chance to have some proper training we move them on and start again with a different set of players? Good job we didn't do that with Joelinton and Lewis Hall

@Magpie24_7 What about elanga and woltenmade, shift 3 of them out in the summer and start again with a recognised centre forward, you can't be spunking 170 million on 3 terrible buys again .

🕵️‍♂️ There’s no escaping it—one of the biggest talking points of the season is the curious case of Yoane Wissa. Since his protracted big-money move from Brentford, things haven't exactly gone to plan. After a nightmare start with that serious knee injury on international duty before he’d even kicked a ball for us, the road back has been incredibly steep. Recently, he’s been a ghost in the matchday squads, and when he has featured, the feedback hasn't been flattering! 📉 In the opportunities Wissa has been given since his December debut, it’s hard to argue with the "eye test"—he has looked well off the pace. Look the Premier League is 100mph, and coming off a major injury into an Eddie Howe system is a massive ask. In those brief cameos, the sharpness and the clinical edge we saw at Brentford just haven't been there. He’s struggled to impose himself, and with the likes of Gordon and even Osula pushing on, Wissa has found himself watching from the stands or the bench. 🏋️ Eddie Howe has been quite vocal lately, essentially saying Wissa is now 'fitter than he's ever been' because of the relentless work he’s doing away from the matchday spotlight. But regardless it feels like the club has shifted gears. Rather than forcing him into games where he isn't ready, they are essentially giving him the pre-season training he missed last summer once again, working one on one with Graeme Jones. It’s all about the long game now. The focus is on ensuring his knee and his overall fitness can handle the 'Howe-way' of pressing and playing long term. 📅 Let’s be realistic: at this point in the season, it’s unlikely we’re going to see Wissa suddenly explode into life and carry us to the finish line. It looks more like a 'write-off' season to ensure he is 100% ready to be the player we paid for next season. We know the talent is there—you don't score 19 PL goals in a season by accident—but we might have to wait until August to see the real Yoane Wissa in a black and white shirt. What’s your take? Have we seen enough to be worried, or are you happy to wait for him to get right for next year? Let’s hear it! 👇 #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL

@AdamP1242 "Realistically"? Realistically we wouldn't have won the league cup last year, Realistically Liverpool villa and Arsenal should have beaten wolves in the last couple of weeks. Realistically Chelsea shouldnt have beaten barca 3-0 the game after they couldn't beat qurabeg

Realistically we aren’t going to get past Barcelona across 2 legs in the Champions League, it would be a huge upset if Newcastle pulls it off Then you look at Chelsea away at the weekend which is massive in the Premier League and then Sunderland next week is even bigger Howe is going to lose the crowd if he fails to win the Tyne Wear derby, has to get results in the league now #NUFC
