Informed about a bit of soldiering, a bit of healthcare, a bit of training and development. Opinionated on most other things, curious about everything.

24th October, 2012 Corporal David O’Connor, aged 27 from Havant, Hampshire, of 40 Commando Royal Marines, was killed by small arms fire in the village of Char Kutsa, Helmand, Afghanistan alongside his colleague Corporal Channing Day. Lest we Forget David and his colleague 🏴🇬🇧

My great uncle Lt Brian Carr 10 PARA. 1918-2004. Served in Africa, Italy and N Europe. Dropped with Op Market Garden into Arnhem. Captured twice, escaped twice, helped by very brave Dutch Resistance. ✌️🇳🇱 Far more distinguished looking than any paras I know today!

In 2010 when I was medically discharged from the military Charlie Hobson (who at the time was CEO of The Royal Marines Association) gave me a job. My only other options according to a recruitment agency were labourer on a building site or check out assistant in a supermarket, both great jobs but not ones that lit my fire or I felt I could put my heart and soul into. After his time at the RMA & various other jobs Charlie then started working for Rock 2 Recovery UK who many of you know are an incredible organisation that have helped and saved thousands of lives within the Veteran & Emergency Services Community. Well after decades of helping and supporting others Charlie is finally retiring and I’m doing what I can to help him walk off into the sunset to spend time with his family. Before he goes he wants to do one more fundraiser to try and raise as much money as possible for Rock2Recovery so they can continue to do the incredible work that they do. Please take a minute to watch this video and see what we’re doing and then if you can please hit the link below to donate towards Charlie’s final hurrah. sportsgiving.co.uk/sponsor/activi…
