Just arrived in Caerphilly to support @LlyrPowell.
Let’s put an end to 100 years of Labour rule.
English

@Keir_Starmer You are losing so much ground. I voted for you based on a manifesto. This was not in it. Stop alienating your voters & start by getting some more teachers like you said you would.
English

@MrARobbins @stoneman_claire 42 in November, I’m about to start my 4th year at AHT. I love where I am, SLT is challenging me, I love the school. I have no desire to move but I do have a desire to get better at what I currently do. I am grounded as I have a great head & I’m not at that level.
English

@stoneman_claire I always wonder what happens to the people who are assistant heads within 5 years? Do they plateau and stay in the role for 10 years or become Heads by year 10? Being a headteacher by 35 leaves a lot of years ahead of you in the most demanding job, scary.
English

@WiganAndrew I voted Labour. They must do better. I think they are basically acting like less corrupt tories. So far not good enough in my eyes. There has been many redundancies in teaching to accommodate pay rises. It’s not what I voted for. Austerity is a choice.
English

@EFLRETIRED @RNLI 100% my choice.
Just watching saving lives at sea & seeing how this played out. I’m shocked no one died. Well done to the RNLI. Brave people especially Lee & well done to the French too. 👏. Anne you should actually watch this on bbc iplayer. Humanity & empathy at its best.
English

@EFLRETIRED @RNLI I think your comments are shameful. I live in Cornwall these volunteers are true hero’s. I pay them every month in the knowledge that one day they might save my kids or my kids kids. On Saturday in Newquay I’ll put money in the bucket at lifeboat day too.
English
@RNLI Taxi service for illegals. Zero money from me. Shameful organisation.
English

@Lea069079012434 @RNLI The RNLI are majority volunteers who put their own lives at risk to save others. You never know an immigrant volunteering for them might just save your life. Luckily racism is a minority. Would you watch someone die because of their place of birth? Of course not.
English

@MoreMorrow As an idea it’s fabulous and should be offered. As a secondary timetabler most of my increased workload over the last two weeks is how can I make this work with the part timers. Too many might tip it over.
English

This is why we absolutely have to be better at flexible working in our schools and ensure that we create a system of entitlement and recognise the huge benefits of part-time working

Exclusive: Mums returning to teaching from maternity leave are more likely to stay in their jobs if they work part-time, a major new study suggests buff.ly/ytnHdt5
English

@TheMopingOwl @SteveAReformUK @AndyFitchet Rightly so too. I don’t understand why anybody is against diversity and inclusion. If I get ill tomorrow and I need life saving surgery, I want the best surgeon available. I don’t care about the sex, religion, gender or ethnicity. Their expertise is all I need.
English

@SteveAReformUK @AndyFitchet Whether councils have a DEI department or not, their human resources staff will have to take account of equality law which requires public employers to treat employees equally & monitor diversity.
English

Councillors DO NOT have the authority to fire Council staff or set Terms of Employment. Reform Councils are going to be a shit show.
Councillors set strategy, finance and policy. Staffing decisions are made by the CEO, Heads of Departments and HR over which Cllr’s have no say.

.@Nigel_Farage says any Durham County Council staff working on diversity or climate change initiatives, or think 'they can go on working from home', should be 'seeking alternative careers' It is one of seven county councils now under Reform's control itv.com/news/2025-05-0…
English

@AColdGuinness @PolitlcsUK How we get there, means I don’t have a clue. I doubt that’s true, I what he means is a can’t tell you because you won’t like it.
English

@PolitlcsUK "but its how we get there...." - and never says how he plans to get there.
English

@bphillipsonMP Bring change to Britain by fully funding any teacher pay rise. We didn’t vote for austerity, we voted for hope, leadership, change and honesty.
English

@diamondd @KatieG_ @RachelReevesMP The jury is still out. I voted labour but smashing the gangs is not possible. Recruiting 6500 extra teachers is a challenge. The new ofsted framework is a joke that won’t help. I’ll give labour a chance but we need better in the next 4 years. Tory/ reform will never get my vote.
English

@KatieG_ @RachelReevesMP ALTERNATIVELY;-
NHS waiting lists down ✅
Wages up ✅
Economy growth ✅
Inflation down ✅
NHS / rail strikes ended ✅
Improved workers rights ✅
Increased defence spend 2.5gdp✅
Plans for 6500 extra teachers ✅

@EadrictheWild @gavlar0608 @SkyNews Losing? I can’t remember a year Tesco lost anything. Let’s not blame the government for a system that promotes greed. Let’s continue to tax those that can afford it & if they want to put their prices up, even better we can then spend our cash in the small independents.
English

@gavlar0608 @Stephenclyde4 @SkyNews Of course because they are losing £250 million in taxes they hadn't budgeted for. This is how the private sector operates. Still Rachel's fault.
English

Profits at Tesco have increased by hundreds of millions in the year it announced 400 job losses and criticised the cost of additional taxes on employers

English

@hebe_jane @ianwhite21 Well done to Michaela, qualifications mean great life chances for young people. However they are not a model that can or should be copied. Many schools have found themselves in deep trouble for having a similar narrowed curriculum.
English

@Stephenclyde4 @ianwhite21 Their exam stats may be impressive, but education is, or should be, so much more than just academic subjects.
English

@teachwellall I’m not sure how true this is.
I’m secondary SLT, 3 females and 5 males. Every school I’ve ever worked at has been the same & just to add that the females on our team are awesome & some of the strongest leaders I’ve worked with are female so I don’t know why it matters.
English

@PolitlcsUK Pretending he’s the farmers friend. How did Brexit work out for our farmers and fishermen?
