@FrankBr05713205 My GT350 takes this and it probably has tighter clearances than these new engines. It is all about fuel economy at the expense of accelerated engine wear.

Manufacturers keep coming up with some crazy motor oils that may force you to buy the oil from the dealer at times. First it was 0W-16 and now get ready for 0W –8 for Asian imports and 0W – 12 for some European engines. Be careful if you have one of these cars that uses these newer oils as substituting may void your warranty. Most manufacturers are saying an alternative can be used in a pinch, but not long-term. The places you normally go to have your oil changed may not have these oils, so it would be a good idea to check before you go.

Not only do I remember when gas was under $1/gal, I remember when cars could get 40+ mpg without cylinder/engine shutoffs, EGR valves, etc.
I had a '96 Saturn SL that got 40 mpg all day long. Crank windows, not even power steering.

@bowtiedfarmer They still have chilton manuals and basic tools for that. I’d say if she wants, she probably could. Parts are probably another story tho. Planned obsolescence.

Or you could just buy this completely restored '86 square body for less than 1/2 the cost of a new truck. Bonus: bench seats, you can fix it yourself, no in-dash iPad and it doesn't spy on you.
