It has been confirmed that Louisiana Republicans will keep one majority-Black district in the new map they are voting on. This is a blow to the GOP, which had hoped Louisiana Republicans would draw out both Democratic representatives.

Republicans will claim this heritage in the same breath they celebrate the end of the VRA and drawing districts specifically designed to eliminate representation of black districts.

@RonaldDriver73 @AmanitaFugax Voting isn’t racially polarized in the North. We have white Democrats and Republicans. In the South, whites are 90% Republican.

@jazzfan71 @jaredmandel1 @ishapiro Yes, they do. Identity politics goes both ways. In the South, white and black voters vote in racial blocs, so black voters will never have representation when white voters can just outvote them in every district.
