@ProudyMan1 I have been waiting more than 5yrs & many others have been waiting longer for the science & RCTs to catch up to what we already know

@StevePeek8 Steve - RCTs with improved blinding for MC will improve patient access; improve science; increase likelihood / incentives for public insurance funding (medicare/PBS) - its a chicken/egg situation I get it - but win wins happen when ivory tower types get good RCT evidence bases.

4 ways to reduce bias in Medicinal Cannabis RCTs: 1) trials could include a psychoactive control 2) participants for trials could be recruited who are naive to cannabis use 3) trials at a minimum could assess the adequacy of blinding

@ProudyMan1 Andrew I understand the future benefits of science & RCTS but that does not help those who need access now Many thousands cannot or don't have the time to wait for the science or RCTs To me that is what the focus should be on, what is needed now

@ProudyMan1 Too much emphasis on CBD alone 4 me Rightly or wrongly I dont make comments based on science or RCT only on my own lived experience & the experience of those close to me Sometimes science hinders & blocks access to what many need now Anecdotal evidence is lived experience

@StevePeek8 That is not what the paper or the tweet says - its refers to preparations enriched with CBD not excluding THC

@ProudyMan1 Restricting trials to strains & preparations enriched 4 cbd & not THC is promoting the bias Many children & adults with drug resistant epilepsy REQUIRE THC & THCA Every pharmaceutical epilepsy medication has a psychoactive effect Why should the benefits of THC be ignored

4) clinical trials can explore cannabis strains and preparations that are enriched for CBD, which does not have the psychoactive effects of THC Casarett, David MD - 2018 JAMA Internal Medicine dx.doi.org/10.1001/jamain…

@StevePeek8 @Patrick_OCONNR @DRC_AU That’s very good news. There are issues for people who sometimes take a lot longer to communicate and for people with a lot of trauma and/or lifelong abuse histories.

This seems to be an ongoing theme with the @DRC_AU #DisabilityRC What percentage of people are actually those with direct lived experience of abuse?

@Patrick_OCONNR @DRC_AU I just heard at estimates that they have only had 74 private sessions and have limited them to an hour. That’s outrageous.

If there is one thing the LNP do hands down better than Labor, it's #distraction. Everybody talking about $3000 watches when the real story is the gifting of $27,000,000.00 to a donor. #AuspolSoCorrupt #auspol

What is the future of AGE CARE in Aust On ABC news this morning that the Fed Govt has told the RC they dont want to spend any more on aged care & that is why it was privatised. Apparently the commissioners are now divided on what 2 do. An issue that will one day affect us all

@ACTINOSProject @JoshButler @amnestyOz The actions of Qld Hlth & Qld Govt refusing to prescribe a legal MC product for Suli in 2017 were in breach of the United Nations convention of a child's right to life The state shall not make a decision knowing it will cause harm to or the death of a child.

#auspol Today further allegations of SAS murders. Soon the full finding will be released. It will have a big impact and lead to long overdue reform, hopefully, including a reapraisal of the jingoistic Anzac myth and a scrapping of the $500m plan to further glorify the AWM.

@criprights @DisabilityRC In Qld you cannot claim compensation for the wrongful death or death by medical negligence of a disabled child as under Qld law their life has no monetary value This means that no law firm will take on my daughters case This is discrimatory & dangerous

Not til mid 2021 for a guarantee of safety for disabled people, families, workers to be able to tell their abuse stories without fear of reprisal. And still no safety. In 2018 it took 11 days for government to address an issue of public safety. #MakeItSafeToSpeak @DisabilityRC

@StevePeek8 @ProudyMan1 I was in Tassie last year, and the Lady of The House at which we were staying spoke of folk who would try and get Red Bellied Blacks on to their property, to drive off the Browns. On their own, I was told, they are less...'lively' than the Browns, & keep themselves to themselves.

Oh, they’re back... Two BIG browns in yard today- closer to 2m than 1m. I remember Julian White telling us that we probably were never more than 10 from a snake in Australia.

@StevePeek8 Starts off as a loose conversation about advanced care directives and ends up with the person with MD signing off a DNR. Including younger adults. And giving them predicted survival stats (very early on in the pandemic). I find this wildly disturbing.

Just a reminder that there are a range of disability slurs that you might not consider offensive. If you’re calling people cabbages/turnips, or calling non disabled people words that are related to disability slurs, it’s a bit shit for those who hear this about themselves often.
