Lost my near-minimum wage job two weeks ago with no notice thanks to an evil company that will soon go under and who I didn't even technically work for because they wanted me to take a $6/hr paycut, got sick for a week and now am about to be homeless. Life is great!!

Here’s a bit of a serious post about stop motion and a dark, obscure short film (circa 1986) by Nick Park called Babylon. And it’s a bit timely with the National Disability Insurance Scheme being traded off for AUKUS submarines, which should be discussed at the upcoming Australian Labor Party conference but which is peculiarly absence from their ‘frank and fearless’ discussions… Babylon takes place in a ruined world, with a speaker giving a speech about "peace and profit" to a conference of arms dealers, while a lone waiter watches in irritation. However, one of the conference's attendees is an enormous bald man who grunts like an animal and doesn't say an actual word throughout the entire thing, and as the speech goes on, the man grows larger and larger as more and more deals are made throughout the speech... youtu.be/fmrS1eo6fs0?si… The speaker claims that the arms dealers fight for the well-being of the people...in spite of the fact that they're selling weapons to anyone who'll pay good money for them. Only the waiter and a dealer on a wheelchair survive the arms meeting, and it's implied that the rest of the world might not be doing so well either.
