Seeing a lot of discussion about this, Gaming is an interactive medium. When you remove the interaction part, you are missing out on a critical part of the experience.
It's OK to enjoy stories by watching vids but I really think you need to play to appreciate games fully imo.

Hot take: There’s nothing wrong with watching games on YouTube, not everyone can afford them let alone the hardware to play it on, plus not everyone has the time to go through and play them. As long as they can understand the lore and characters then I think it’s okay..

For example, some may like old monster movies but hate modern slasher movies. Or some may prefer reading horror novels to watching horror films.
