Here is what most Christians miss. The God who is pure spirit, without body, parts, or passions, is not Israel's God. He is the God of Greek philosophy. Plato handed him to Philo, Philo to the church fathers, Maimonides made him law for the rabbis, and from that point forward the Bible had to be explained away one verse at a time. The embodied God is not a primitive draft that later thinkers refined. He is the original that philosophy buried. God walks through the garden until a man hides from the sound of his steps [Genesis 3:8]. His hand pulls the ark door shut [Genesis 7:16]. He sits on a throne whose hem fills the temple [Isaiah 6:1]. Smoke pours from his nostrils, fire from his mouth [Psalm 18:8; 2 Samuel 22:9]. He covers Moses with his hand, then lifts it, and Moses sees his back [Exodus 33:22–23]. Feet on a pavement of sapphire while the elders eat in his presence [Exodus 24:10–11]. He smells the offering and it moves him [Genesis 8:21]. He has a heart that can be grieved [Genesis 6:6]. Then the calf at Mamre, eaten [Genesis 18:1–8], and the stranger in the dark Jacob would not release until dawn, who left him limping and named the ground Face of God [Genesis 32:24–30]. You do not feed veal to a symbol. You do not wrestle a metaphor to the breaking of day. Daniel watches him take his seat, clothing white as snow, hair like wool [Daniel 7:9]. Ezekiel looks up past the sapphire and sees a figure with a human appearance, gleaming from the waist [Ezekiel 1:26–27]. Head, hair, face, nostrils, mouth, hand, back, waist, feet, heart, assembled across books by writers who never met and could not stop describing the same thing. The bodiless God came later.

@nicoraytruth God is spirit! No one has seen the face of God.

@elonmusk Really if you aren’t prepared for exploding rockets, you shouldn’t be in the rocket industry. They are arguably an essential part of the process.

@EnchantedRoc @mawendt3 @brutalcams Yeah that’s true, but I don’t know where the government gets off limiting man’s access to fire. As far as I’m concerned that’s worse than violating the second amendment.

@mawendt3 @brutalcams Yeah man, I run a wildlands firefighting company. Everything here is extremely green and moisturized. There is very little risk of this fire burning out of control on this property. Like I would set up a fire shelter on this property.

All they had to do was give a single tax credit to young parents for this boost, but sure let’s remove property tax from our seniors so they can keep living in 4 bedroom houses.

White births up from 47.8% under Biden to 51.2% under Trump. If negative net migration continues, White Americans will never become a minority. And given that leftists aren’t having many kids, our country is going to get a lot more right wing in 20-30 years time.

Apparently the data say that half of young Mormons drink tea and coffee?? I’m removed from Utah culture, so I don’t really have any experience with that Can anyone confirm this with anecdotal experience? If true, it supports the pivot away from orthodoxy that has been noted…

You can’t have 3 persons be the same being because having your own being is what makes you your own person. Or to be more technical A person is not merely a set of properties, but a distinct substance—a being that exists in itself. That which is numerically one cannot simultaneously be numerically three. For if there are truly three persons, each must possess its own act of existence, for it is by existing in itself that a thing is distinguished from another. Therefore, if three persons are real and distinct, they cannot be one and the same being. For distinction of person requires distinction of substance, and where there is but one substance, there is but one individual.
Exmo2EO@Exmo2EO

Please not the 1 Being, 3 Persons circle again, where you try to apply LDS definitions and thinking to the early Christian worldview. It refers to one being, and multiple figures claim it. I personally find the Trinity discussion kind of boring because (my sole opinion) I think the councils were more specifying what/who God is not, more than trying to define what/who God is. In other words, they were putting up borders, not necessarily making a positive claim. Maybe that’s just my own ignorance. My more relevant point was that you left out critical context that was in the video, I think to make your counter more palatable.

I think: It’s naive to believe the Book of Mormon is literal history. It’s naive to believe the Book of Mormon is the work of the devil and has nothing of value. It’s naive to believe Joseph Smith and Mormonism are pure evil. It’s naive to think LDS church is the ONLY true church. It’s naive to think the LDS church is an evil organization. Basically I think everyone is wrong about it when they only look at it from a believing or critical point of view.

Well the veil just represents the separation of God from man, or the boundary between heaven and earth. you’ll notice Mormons want everyone to walk through it and into God’s presence. The veil being torn in Jerusalem can symbolize a million and one things. I personally think it stands for the end of death. But people still die. It’s just not consequential anymore since we shall all be resurrected in Christ Jesus. There are some other incredibly important contexts with the temple in Jerusalem like a prophet being killed in the temple and his blood boiling on the floor for decades, the tree of life being taken out of the holy of holies, and all kinds of other events over the hundreds of years between Christ and Moses. I think the veil breaking has a lot of meaning. I don’t think anyone really understands the full meaning.

Our honeymoon was absolute perfection, a perfect way to start our loudly aggressively Mormon/Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints eternal marriage. Someday when we're old and wrinkly we look back on these beautiful honeymoon photos and say "damn we were so young and beautiful"

Harry Potter is such a female coded story. “Oh no the goblet of fire said I had to play some games I didn’t consent or volunteer for and the rules can’t be changed because of magic. But magic bewitched the cup to give my name in the first place.” “Oh no professor Dumbledore ignored me so I won’t tell him when another professor is using a magic pen to literally cut my arm.” “Oh no my uncle put bars on my window so I can’t escape. I’m in prison stuck with my family.”
