@DaleVince the ELECTORATE decides, not the government. The "country" has said what it wants. So putting the country first means Starmer goes, and ideally an election.

To anyone considering a leadership challenge I say - put the country first, not your own interests or those you might claim are the interests of the party. Keir Starmer has a massive democratic mandate from the public, nobody has the right to seek to depose him, nobody. Not Wes, not Ed, not Andy, not Angie. Yes Keir is unpopular in the polls, that’s current public sentiment - it’s not a mandate for getting rid of him. Opinion polls are snapshots of opinions. Local election results are always an opportunity to register a protest. Labour has a job to do, we’re not even two years in yet, things are tough - a leadership challenge would be self indulgent and illogical - in my view.

Whatever we think of Starmer, most people probably accept he's trying to serve the public good. The same can be said of Brown, May & Sunak. Real contempt should be reserved for politicians who are in it to serve themselves & make money. Step forward, Boris Johnson & Nigel Farage.

The Brexit Derangement Syndrome is off the scale at the moment. Reform (formerly known as the BREXIT PARTY) just swept to victory across working class areas. Response? Oh, it’s obviously time to rejoin the EU… Do these people even believe in democracy?

@GossLilly65189 @zarahussain999 I think you are rather confused. There is a clue in the name working class and those voting reform want all of the things you listed. What they dont understand is the damage done to their class by brexit and that farage does not care about them

@zarahussain999 I hope they do win so they come in and teach the working class that voted them in a lesson when their benefits are slashed, more people are pushed into work, and stricter checks are introduced for disability and sickness benefits.

I have a BA and an MA in Politics, I've taught it for more than a decade & I'm obsessively interested in it. After almost two years of Labour government, I have absolutely no idea what their pitch to the electorate is.

Sigh. Son who is about to graduate from Exeter with a good law degree has sent off 150 applications for summer work, internships, experience. His CV looks good. Results are good. Very personable. Scrubs up well. Loads of mini pupillage experience. Some of the applications are for unpaid work. Most don’t bother replying. None give feedback. The opportunities for young people, even law graduates, just aren’t there. It’s heart-breaking.

Statements that have now come to light from a handful of @TheGreenParty candidates are totally unacceptable & require immediate action. There’s no place for anti-semitism or any hate speech in the party. This is a society-wide problem & needs to be rooted out wherever it’s found

The Green Party have gone from relative obscurity to triggering sustained multi day establishment smear campaigns. As horrible as it is to feel like we’re going through 2017-19 again, it conclusively demonstrates we are now a threat to the rich, powerful, and reactionary.

For more than 25 years, the Metropolitan Police has been repeatedly found by independent investigations to be institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic. The brass neck is staggering. As Commissioner, Mark Rowley’s job is to serve the public, not to make political attacks. Shame on him.

To say they don't believe the patient, or think that the patient shouldn't exist. A nurse should not be making this call

How ever can a nurse employed by the NHS, regulated by the NMC, consider it appropriate to decide whether or not she will use the pronouns a patient has clearly expressed they wish to be addressed by?
