You have more leverage in the structuring relative to PE and keep your legacy.

When he recovered it, he carefully opened the camera and found the SD card inside was still intact. The photos were saved. After my dad died last fall, my sister and I inherited a few quarters of farmland in NW North Dakota. My cousin has been farming it for decades and asked me if we were interested in selling. I told him we weren't and then I made a deal to buy my sister's half at a fair price. My cousin came back to me and offered me a more-than-fair price. Rather than shortchange my sister, I decided to keep 80 acres and we are going to sell the rest to him. One of the reasons I decided to sell is that this land sits within a 2,000-acre field of his. If I was ever going to do anything with the land myself, it would create a fair amount of tension and it would logistically be a pain in the butt for him. But me spending time back home this fall made me realize that I want to spend more time out there with my boys than I have over the last decade. So I bought a little farm 7-8 miles straight east of my dad’s farm just across the border into Montana and it turns out this farm has some world-class pheasant hunting. I think I might have to build a little lodge out there and host some Fullstack Ag work and play meetings!
