@carol_ross43566 @Canellelabelle My husband went to Oundle and loved every minute he was there. He probably spent more time at home with his parents over a year than I did (state secondary) as I was out every evening (and most weekends) doing sport or music, and his holidays were so much longer than mine.

Apparently the Wales are not just looking for a secondary school for Prince George, but they are also looking at schools for Princess Charlotte as well🔥     It was reported in the Sun earlier this week that last friday may 1, Prince William and Catherine were seen touring Oundle School, in Northamptonshire, England, as a potential secondary school for Prince George. However, Oundle residents actually confirm that the Wales were touring the boarding school with Princess Charlotte on May 1. “It was actually Charlotte that they are looking to enroll here,” says an Oundle resident. “They visited the headmaster’s home next door to me."👌🏽    The source adds that Prince William, Catherine, and Princess Charlotte were seen touring the school and having lunch at Dryden House, a girl’s boarding house at the school for ages 13 through 18”😍     I love that they are exploring many options as alternative for their children so that each has their experience instead of following a linear pattern for all. Parenting done right😚

@Geniustechw I'm not sure about UK, but in Russia cyclists are not allowed to take middle road, to cross intersections you just become pedestrian, so in this case cyclist is partly to blame, but the driver is also to blame because he didn't follow road markings, crossed road split.

@MadsDavies We've often asked people to come and be mystery worshippers and then asked for very detailed feedback afterwards. Its a really good idea as you never get a second chance to have a first look at something.

@Straightpaths36 @Xeon4f145d96s1 @UKFPO It's madness. We can't keep treating our doctors like shit. They are adults with lives and partners and kids and friends and family responsibilities. Let them work where they want, and if any area is under-served, provide incentives for doctors to move there.

Dr Elaine is the UK’s first deaf/blind doctor. She is under multiple specialists in London. She is on 24 hour LTOT. Her request to be pre-allocated to London was declined and was allocated Dorset. This is a catastrophic failure by the @UKFPO, who simply isn’t hated enough.

Evangelicals are probably worse affected by this. For instance, you seem to get either slightly confused evangelicals wearing cassock-albs whilst denying their ministry is sacerdotal or they reject vestments altogether.
Daniel Heaton@2D0XPS

@thevicarswife @joseph_rohrbach The liturgical default in the Church of England now is Liberal Catholic. CW:Daily Prayer and the Eucharist at General Synod (and every cathedral) are the proof of that. Catholics and Evangelicals alike have memory-holed the entire liturgical life of the CofE before the 1980s

A lot of folks assume that many Protestant denominations will just slowly decline over the next few decades. That's not what is going to happen. The Boomers are propping most of them up right now. When they age out, it's gonna get bad. Really fast. No one is ready.

@thevicarswife @FondOfBeetles It's very school dependent. At my kids primary and secondary schools before we moved (which were independent) every child did organised sport at least x5/week with 2 matches against another team a week being usual. Currently they get 3 lessons a week & very few play matches

@FondOfBeetles In the US? In the UK we talk about primary and secondary schools. (There are middle schools in a couple of counties I think).

Ok, after a couple of hours of searching, I’m fielding out to Twitter, specifically sports types. It’s boring. I’m trying to get a handle on what proportion of kids play organised school sports in middle and elementary school. I’m currently guessing at 50% and 10%, respectively (elementary schools don’t provide many school sports?). Anyone? Please!

@goose67515820 @krishk but that's exactly what happens every time someone stands before God - the ugliness of sin juxtaposed with the beauty and holiness of God.

@krishk It’s not an overreaction. This is bringing what’s ugly and jarring into a space that is beautiful and calming and uplifting. It’s a reflection of how far the establishment including the CofE has fallen.

There’s been a huge overreaction to a temporary artistic installation in Canterbury Cathedral. I’ll be honest — it’s not to my personal taste. But I value what the Cathedral is trying to do. Through a series of workshops, groups were invited to collaborate around a simple but profound question: “What would you ask God?” The resulting installation, created by poet Alex Vellis and curator Jacquiline Creswell, gives voice to the spiritual curiosity and honesty of those who took part. Among the questions displayed are: “Why did you create hate when love is by far more powerful?” and “Does everything have a soul?” Rather than seeing this as an act of provocation, perhaps we could see it as an act of invitation — a call to listen, to engage, and to recognise that even our hardest questions can be part of our search for truth. I have seen US commentators claim this is the fall of Britain and some claim this is sacrilege. Wait till they read the Psalms where the scriptures give voice to some even more outrageous prayers.
Drew Pavlou 🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@DrewPavlou

The Church of England decided this week to cover the interior of the oldest cathedral in England in graffiti in order to represent the voices of “marginalised communities.” The Very Rev David Monteith, Dean of Canterbury, said: “There is a rawness which is magnified by the graffiti style, which is disruptive. It is unfiltered and not sanitised.” “This exhibition intentionally builds bridges between cultures, styles and genres and allows us to receive the gifts of younger people who have much to say.” It’s actually stunning how much the elite of Britain hate their own culture and civilisation. You couldn’t even invent this as satire. They are literally scrawling graffiti on the walls of ancient cathedrals. Everything beautiful is just torn down and destroyed.

@krishk A friend of mine runs Graffiti Church once a month to connect Jesus with a whole load of people who wouldn;t connect in the 'standard' ways we 'do' church. It's pioneering....the big question is do Canterbury have people around to help visitors engage with the questions they ask?

At 16 you can have a job, pay taxes, enrol in the army and leave home. But you can't vote. We are changing that. By the next election we will ensure that the voting age is lowered to 16. This is the biggest reform to democratic participation in over a decade. What do you think?

My not very well thought through idea is instead of setting up new things the government should subsidise children’s play cafes. Kids and parents love them but I’ve found they often close. You could base health visitors there. I’d worry private equity would spy an opportunity tho
