SHOWDOWN: The Conservative Party will force a vote on the Defence Investment Plan 💥 Recent reporting suggests DIP will be published next week. I've been informed by two sources with knowledge of the matter this is not the case. Now, the Tories intend to lay an amendment to the Armed Forces Bill, which would compel the government to lay the DIP before Parliament within a month of the Act receiving Royal Assent. The amendment will be tabled and the vote held on Tuesday - exactly a year since the Strategic Defence Review was published - at a Committee of the Whole House.
