Given the state pension is £12,500 and the tax free allowance is almost exactly the same amount, surely anyone who has got a second pension or other income is automatically paying tax on it? What am I missing here?

Pensioners didn’t pay in to the system for 50 years as a donation towards Universal Credit etc. We are entitled to our pensions. The blades? Made with balsa wood stripped from the Amazon rainforest, straight-up deforestation in the name of “saving the planet”. Then add: • Concrete • Carbon fiber • Steel • Cast iron • Copper • Aluminum • Plus boron, chromium, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum, nickel & rare earth elements All mined, refined, and shipped with massive energy & pollution. These things last 25 years max. By 2050 the world will be drowning in 43 million tons of worn-out blades, that’s the weight of 215,000 locomotives headed for landfills (most can’t even be recycled). £12,000 per annum to a British pensioner whose paid NI and tax for 45 years? Or £50,000 per annun to a family of Somalians who've never paid tax on NI. And never will?

Don't want to get into a bun fight here but why am I reading posts from younger people complaining about people getting a state pension? Errrr, this is how it has always been. When we're young, we work hard for years and then we reach an age where we receive a pension and it's the next generation's turn. What is it with a lot of younger people nowadays (god, I sound like my dad!), they want it all and would be happy if we just kicked the bucket when we retire. I receive my state pension in November this year and I'm bloomin' well not going to feel guilty about it. I would never have complained about this when I was younger and working full time. Never even considered it.

@stevemeister12 @caracus2k @StuartRenders @LoftusSteve I don’t know your circumstances but with mine in the public sector, I paid a chunk of my wages into a pension fund and my NI contributions as well so will, hopefully, start drawing on them all next year ..

A super easy place to start with pension reform. If you get a public sector pension above £20,000 per annum you lose your state pension. This is easy for the Gov to track and should be phased in gradually so it's £20k for 2040.

@caracus2k @padsters61 @LoftusSteve Then I’m one of those people 👍🏽 at 66 I’ve never been out of work or claimed a single benefit, I paid my dues willingly while expecting a pension, I still work full time and see plenty of people wandering around that should be working while expecting the taxpayers to fund them.
