@tomhfh Restore have small pockets of support here, but I'd be very surprised if they keep their deposit. There will be lots who voted Reform in the locals the other week who will vote Burnham this time imo

I don't think he would get close to Reform here, but this is quite a socially conservative area and anecdotally at least he is somewhat well known, although not massively

@DPJHodges @RupertLowe10 I think he'd finish a comfortable third to be honest. People here have socially Conservative tendencies, and he isn't well known enough to develop that automatic rejection that Farage has amongst some.
That said I don't think he would get close to Reform

The people of Makerfield deserve a committed local MP. Instead, they are forced to be extras in the Labour Party’s psychodrama. Burnham does not care whether it is Gorton and Denton, Makerfield or Bootle. He is just desperate to get back to Westminster. The people of Makerfield deserve better than being reduced to a chapter in Labour’s civil war.

@owenjonesjourno His old constituency, Leigh, is next door. Coming from there, I’m confident in saying he still has lots of goodwill in the area. Small sample, but I’ve always found it striking how many of my family members/ friends who voted Brexit/Tory/Reform say they’d vote for him.
