Governor Sakaja: We are asking these workers (health workers) to get back to work... For those who will fail to come to work, we shall declare vacancies and hire people who are willing to work for the residents of Nairobi within the terms that Nairobi County can provide.

The Clinical Officers Council is conducting sensitization sessions for all Clinical medicine, final-year students from 9th to 13th February 2026. The purpose of these sessions is to provide guidance and support to students in preparation for the COC Pre-Internship Examination.

During a protest outside City Hall, KUCO Nairobi branch chairman Stephen Muthama condemned the Nairobi City County government for its continued neglect of clinical officers' grievances. He highlighted deep-seated frustrations regarding poor working conditions and the employer's failure to honor previous agreements.

STATEMENT — KUCO It is unacceptable that the Council of Governors (@KenyaGovernors), having been validly served with a 21-day strike notice demanding implementation of outstanding terms chose to ignore that lawful notice and instead rushed to court seeking to halt our lawful industrial action. The Court properly refused the certificate of urgency and declined the relief sought. Our protected strike lawfully commenced on 23rd December 2025 and remains in full force. The strike was called to enforce binding and long-standing demands that remain unimplemented, namely: the finalisation and signing of the CBA, the transition of UHC staff to Permanent & Pensionable (PNP) terms, and the payment of eighteen (18) months’ arrears owed to former Global Fund staff. The only lawful path to restore services is for the Ministry of Health (@MOH_Kenya) and @KenyaGovernors to promptly implement KUCO’s uncontested historical demands. Failure to act will leave the Union no option but to remain on strike to compel compliance and protect the rights of Clinical Officers and the patients they serve. We call on all stakeholders — @StateHouseKenya, @srckenya, @Kenyajudiciary, @LabourSPKE, @MTRHofficial, @GlobalFund — to note the reality on the ground and urge urgent, lawful action to restore normalcy. Directive to members: Remain on strike. Do not be intimidated. Report any coercion or unlawful action immediately to the Office of the General Secretary.
