@sogonsec Last one: have a maintenance budget for normal wear and tear. For an older house, this will need to be bigger.

@sogonsec Also, prioritize what you want in a house. After a few years we found that some stuff we really wanted we don't actually care about, and some stuff that didn't matter to us turned out to be important. Might have been better to buy less house and get it more right the next time.

@DAkacki Glad you guys made it through ok. Might be worth reporting to the police with whatever info you have - might not be an isolated incident. I think you did well to handle the situation the way you did.

Today was a scary day. Someone decided to not yield as they were supposed to, get pissed at me and follow my family back onto the highway. Apologies to everyone I had to cut off to evasive maneuver to safety over 5 miles. My final defense would've been messy.

@jloiselle1 @SwiftOnSecurity I was in this situation some years ago as client engineer, in the same department that did help desk and level 2 support. It was a great model. If something I deployed broke, being involved in fixing it was a great teacher, and incentive to build better.

Separating the roles of Client Engineering and Helpdesk may be one of the worst systemic inhibitors to company productivity imaginable

@mackensen I like "if it's stupid and it works, then it's not stupid". I tend to be pretty picky about the definition of "works" though.

@ihors3 @CNBC @S3Partners It looks to me like about 5M shares bought to cover, while the share price simultaneously dropped. I'm certainly no expert, but I'd expect the price to increase normally - if retail traders weren't being prevented from buying. Or is there something else here I don't understand?

@AOC @RobinhoodApp Please include Citadel in the investigation. What I am reading is that they loaned $billions to hedge funds short selling Gamestop, but that they are also the order processor for Robinhood, and that Citadel refused to take buy orders from Robinhood today. Thank you.

This is unacceptable. We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit. As a member of the Financial Services Cmte, I’d support a hearing if necessary.
Motherboard@motherboard

More than half of all Robinhood users own at least some GameStop stock. They are now unable to freely trade it; the app is only allowing users to close out their positions. vice.com/en/article/m7a…

@TinkerSec @Pestopublic Except the hedge funds can still buy. So they can do a short ladder to drop the price while demand was artificially depressed, and can buy to cover their ludicrous short position at a discount. I'm no expert, but if everyone was selling, I'd expect more volume on the dip.

@mackensen @NukeHavoc We watched it recently. It was genuinely hard to get through. But, hey, it gave us Boba Fett, and now we have The Mandalorian, so good things sometimes come from strange places. ...very strange.

Setting up the Geek Tree with NeutronLad because 2020's been a stupidly long year, we've got a busy November, and I really want to setup my tree, damn it. Of course, we need a movie to accompany the set-up. NeutronLad's choice is The Phantom Menace. #geektree

@Viss That being said, the cpuc can inform you about what the specific applicable rules are, and armed with that info you might get some traction with your utility by threatening to complain to the cpuc about this specific violation. Ymmv

@Viss Yes and no. For your individual case, I assume bureaucracy won't help. If this is a pattern of behavior, and enough people report, 2 things may happen: 1. Enforcement of the rules going forward, and 2. The next time the utility applies to raise their rates, they get rejected.

@XenoPhage @Helter27 Penn State has a lot of resources for reporting and dealing with them: extension.psu.edu/spotted-lanter… When they are younger, they are black with white spots, then turn red like your picture, then they get their big wings. Come at them head-on to step on them. They jump fast.
