I don’t think it’s helpful to divide the two - as it certainly feels like northern clubs tend to get more preferential treatment as it is. Whether that’s to do with the head of the PGMOL and the majority of the referees being from up there, who knows

During the forthcoming international break, it would make sense for Howard Webb to hold two meetings with managers (north & south) to address widespread concerns about implementation of VAR in @premierleague. VAR is here to stay and @FA_PGMOL need to get it right. Football is so tribal that the current mess (refereeing mistakes, managers’ comments) is seen through individual club prisms when it’s a league-wide problem. It needs a calmer, grown-up debate for the good of the game. Howard Webb is highly respected and surely can work with managers to stop English football looking so flawed and fractious over officiating. @LMA_Managers

I have no problem with @GaryLineker using free speech to make his points. However, when it comes to #RemembranceSunday his comments show a lack of understanding. #Remembrance weekend is for the country, and for those of us who served, to remember those who never came back with gratitude and reflection. I particularly remember one man, a dear friend of mine, who was tortured by terrorists, his body dismembered and his parents died never knowing where he lay. People can protest on any other day of the year, but on this day of days we owe those who served to protect us and our freedoms this one quiet moment of love, memory and prayer. If virtue signalling has a time and a place, neither are on #RemembranceSunday.
