FATAL HIT-AND-RUN IN NORTHWEST D.C.; PEDESTRIAN STRUCK IN CROSSWALK, DRIVER FLED WASHINGTON, D.C. — MPD is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Northwest D.C. that claimed the life of a pedestrian Saturday morning. The incident occurred on April 18, 2026, at approximately 11:13 a.m. at the intersection of 23rd Street and L Street NW. According to authorities, officers and DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and located an adult female pedestrian suffering critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk. 🚑 The victim was transported to a local hospital, where despite all life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead.

We're reinstating the limited juvenile curfew in Washington, DC. Effective tonight, all youth under 18 are subject to an 11PM curfew—which will extend through 5/1. Designated zones will be subject to an 8PM curfew as determined by the Chief of Police.

The D.C. Council is once again considering enacting emergency legislation that would expand the District's juvenile curfew. We can't keep turning to policing as the solution to every issue. Tell the D.C. Council to stop over policing District youth: secure.ngpvan.com/0C_IuBQWvUeVml…

Police said that just before 7 p.m., a group of middle schoolers was riding in the bike lane on 14th Street when a group of men on dirt bikes and ATVs ran them over, then left the children bleeding in the street. bit.ly/4mdowwb

Whenever I complained about the ATV dirt bike gangs that sped around and terrorized everyone, locals said they were harmless and I didn’t understand the culture. Cops weren’t allowed to stop them. And that was a decade ago.

Reason #2 why I support @Janeese4DC Smart, pragmatic leadership.Never compromises her values to please a majority, but she listens to all sides to find practical solutions. She's fighting for MPD autonomy from ICE and workers' rights and fair wages, - putting people first.

The Law Enforcement Legal Defense reports that the prosecutors had to take this case to SIX different grand juries before they found one that would indict: wltreport.com/2025/01/23/pre…
