Today people from dozens of groups came together to demand MPs vote against yet another round of anti-protest powers. The government intends to give police the power to restrict protests based on their so-called ‘cumulative disruption’. The government has been transparent with this: these powers are being pushed in response to the mass national marches for Palestinian rights. But this proposed change would impact all of us and our ability to protest, for whatever cause is most important to us. Our right to protest must be defended. ✊

Heard of Palantir? Here’s Palantir’s contract with the NHS explained. A company linked to the Israeli forces’ ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza has NO place in our NHS. NHS trusts can do the right thing and refuse to use Palantir. The time is now. Link in bio to learn more. Get involved: amn.st/6019B6ndEH

Our right to protest must be defended. Please join Amnesty UK, Palestine Solidarity Campaign and many other groups to defend our right to protest. The Government has introduced an extreme proposal to give police new powers to restrict protests based on their so-called ‘cumulative disruption’. If this becomes law, the police in England and Wales will be required to consider any past protests or planned future protests in the same ‘area’ when deciding whether to impose restrictions. The government has been clear: these powers have been brought forward in response to the mass national marches for Palestinian rights. But this proposed change would impact all of us: our ability to protest for women's rights, peace, climate justice, racial justice and equality is under threat.

This festive season there are thousands of people across the world who are in prison for peacefully protesting human rights abuses. Let's remember them.

Jimmy Lai's conviction is a blow to press freedom everywhere. In Hong Kong, the role of journalism in holding power to account is now treated as a crime. Jimmy Lai was jailed under the brutal Beijing-imposed National Security Law in Hong Kong. He is a prisoner of conscience. He should have never been arrested. This sham trial should have never happened. But the fight doesn't end here. Together, we must continue to stand for those silenced by oppressive laws. We will not rest until justice prevails. ✊

Are YOU okey with Chinese and Hongkong authorities spying and harassing exiled activists in the UK? No? Neither are we. The UK government is falling short to protect Hongkongers in the UK from this threat to their rights. We need action NOW. We need a dedicated hotline and a clear, time-bound outreach plan to work with the community.

Palestinian journalists, like @WaelDahdouh, put their lives on the line to record and report Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza. Over 260 media professionals have been killed* in occupied Gaza since October 2023. Palestinian journalists have endured starvation, displacement, repeated attacks, and insurmountable loss, including family members. Their bravery, commitment and sacrifices must not be forgotten. The targeting of journalists is a war crime, and each death must be investigated as such. *Source: amn.st/6010Ck2XG
