We saw similar to this happen when dropshipping first appeared in the 2010’s. People lost trust in buying via Facebook/Meta ads because they would buy from a dropshipped store that delivered months later or dodgy products. This is why Meta clamped down on dropshipping stores and banned them from advertising

This is really worrying for ecommerce. I hope @Shopify stores don’t lose credibility and trust for stores that are selling products that don’t perform the way they are advertised.

@SuttonThings @robiot @kaarmann Apparently Isle of Man has its own version of the FCA. So they are not licensed to operate there any likely don’t have enough potential customers to be worth it.

@robj3d3 That’s an unusual perspective. Not sure I agree with that. Free trials are just ways of getting users to try your product, understand how it works and see if they’re willing to pay for the app. Especially if the price is too high and they don’t want to take the risk.

If you're not VC-backed, you don't owe anyone a free trial. It's not your job to pay for a stranger's usage just because they feel entitled to it. The customers you want are the ones who pay. They respect you most and treat you best.

My UK provider @ThreeUK just cancelled my SIM because I was out of the UK for over 2 months. Now I'm locked out of anything that needs a text code, like my bank, until family posts me a new SIM. How do you get texts while abroad?

New App Bridge issue here: embedded app navigation breaks after using window.location.href to trigger a file download. ui-nav-menu clicks stop navigating until a page refresh in all my apps. Fixed with a workaround, but still...

@JovisJoseph_ Most Shopify apps don’t slow down the store anymore, Shopify changed it so extentions are very efficient and small. Also, many apps work as an add-on to the API rather than storefront code

Shopify is still not punishing bad actors. Just look at this case. This developer (Hoppy apps) removed their banner after getting called out. Their reviews growth flattened out. Then they readded the banner again but this time they outsmarted Shopify compliance by hiding the banner for the development stores and collaborator accounts. One community forum member (Ollie_autoblogger) noticed this and reported to Shopify again with all the evidence. And guess what, all of their apps are still active and ranking high, with all of their reviews intact. All they had to do is remove the banner again. Until they find a new way to trick the system, I guess. I'm afraid ignorance from Shopify could lead to app developers taking action themselves which would turn into fake 1-star review wars and App Store losing its' credibility. We deeply care about App Store and the current state of it is very unsettling, I know a lot of folks in the community feel this way as well. cc @liam_at_shopify @atleeclark @eytanseidman
