@BrysonGray @j_zhong1611 Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

@BrysonGray @j_zhong1611 Genesis 18, “1 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself…”

@NickTCavazos If you are Catholic, Jefferson is no man to look up to and admire.
English

@NickTCavazos The GOP adopted the name ‘Republican Party’ as a direct evocation of Jefferson’s Republican ideals.
The anti-executive Whig Party was formed from the National Republican splinter, which originated from Jefferson’s French, liberal-enlightenment ideology. So, yes, they were.

Today I am being sworn into the Sons of Confederate Veterans, I am proud of my ancestors who fought for Jeffersonian Constitutionalism. They faced overwhelming odds, and a foe who had superiority in numbers and weapons, and still they held fast for four and a half years. My people were poor farmers from central Texas, but they gave their all for the cause of freedom and Liberty. Today, many Americans are upset at the massive power of the federal government. However, we truly only have this type of federal overreach because of the South's defeat in 1865. While the War is over, and we should honor both sides, and teach about the war in an unbiased way, we should never forget the constitutional principles which they fought for.
Shoutout to my friend @thetexasbaron for the cool edit.

@BishopBarron Oh, give me a break. Paul VI did more to destroy the Church and almost any other Pope to exist. This is just pure gaslighting.

@NickTCavazos The Federalist, Hamiltonian position was the avenue the country should have followed.
English

@NickTCavazos The Jeffersonian Democratic-Republican Party is the reason our country is in the shambles it is today.
Both political parties that exist today are an offshoot from this sole error, that of liberalism, deism, and the false concept of ‘self rule’. It is staunchly anti-Catholic.

@BishStrick @pontificatormax Thank you for this. This message is very much needed.

I feel it is important to address concerns regarding the recently released Encyclical Letter, “Magnifica Humanitas,” of the Holy Father Leo XIV. pillarsoffaith.net/a-catholic-dis…

@SwampStain @MLJHaynes Christianity is at its best when it accepts the outcomes of rational inquiry into what will maximize human well-being, and reinterprets its texts/tradition to align (as it did with slavery, consent, etc.). It's at its worst w interpretations it developed to align w Rome & Empire.

Pope Leo XIV writes that the Catholic teaching on Just War Theory “is now outdated”
“Today, more than ever, without prejudice to the right to self-defense in the strictest sense, it is important to reaffirm that the 'just war' theory, which has all too often been used to justify any kind of war, is now outdated.”
Details on @PelicanCatholic

English

@pothen @MLJHaynes Well, this is a question about the Catholicity of the Pope, which has a magisterium that does not teach that God’s only demand of us is that we “try our best to maximize human well-being.”
That is a humanist notion. Suffering is essential to God’s redemptive plan.
English

@SwampStain @MLJHaynes You're listing differences between humanism and dominant forms of Christianity, not differences between humanistic morality and morality derived rationally from the simple premise that a God exists whose only demand of us is that we try our best to maximize human well-being.
Toronto, Ontario 🇨🇦 English

@pothen @MLJHaynes This is not true. Humanism teaches that truth comes from observation and reason, not revelation, that morality is a human construct, and it is principled in the rejection of the supernatural.
English

@SwampStain @MLJHaynes The directives of an all-loving God are indistinguishable from the objectives that one would rationally derive by applying humanism to accurate information about the world.
English

@IshkaEire @MLJHaynes Just war theory is not outdated. It’s just being misapplied.
English

@SwampStain @MLJHaynes theres nothing just about kamikazi drones, thermobaric explosives, ICBMs, nuclear weapons, and so on

Today is the 85th birthday of Bob Dylan, one of the most influential musicians of all time.
Born Robert Zimmerman to a proud Jewish family, Dylan changed music forever while never losing touch with his Jewish roots.
In honor of his birthday, here’s a beautiful Bob Dylan story:
Bob Dylan once quietly walked into a Chabad house in Brooklyn and asked to wrap tefillin. The rabbi helping him didn’t recognize who he was until later, saying:
“He had the same soul as any Jew coming back home.”
Even legends find their way back.

🇻🇦⚡️- Today, Pope Leo XIV has released his first encyclical letter, Magnifica humanitas, on safeguarding the human person in the time of artificial intelligence.
The full letter can be found here for your own reading if you wish, but I have attached some abstracts that I believe provide a very broad summary of some points and are short enough to fit into a telegram message, as there is simply too much to put in so few words.
"Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. Each generation inherits the task of shaping its own era, of guiding history to become a place where the dignity of every person is safeguarded, justice is promoted and fraternity is made possible. Yet every era also runs the risk of creating an inhumane and more unjust world. Whenever humanity is in danger of marring its true identity, we Christians lift our eyes to the Incarnate God, knowing that it is 'only in the mystery of the Word made flesh that the mystery of humanity truly becomes clear.' In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness.
The Holy Spirit challenges us today regarding our relationship with technology and the ongoing digital revolution. Technology has the power to heal, connect, educate and protect our common home; but it can also divide, exclude and generate new forms of injustice. In the abstract, technology in and of itself is not a solution to humanity’s problems, just as it is not inherently evil. In practice, however, technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise, finance, regulate and use it. Therefore, the primary choice is not between a 'yes' or 'no' to technology, but rather between constructing Babel or rebuilding Jerusalem; between a power that claims to dominate the heavens and a people who work together in the presence of God to rebuild the walls of fraternal coexistence.
The danger of humanity becoming a victim of its own achievements was already clearly recognized by Saint Paul VI, who warned that 'the most extraordinary scientific progress, the most astounding technical feats and the most amazing economic growth, unless accompanied by authentic moral and social progress, will in the long run go against man.' For this reason, technological progress — valuable in itself — requires careful discernment of the anthropological vision that guides it and the ends it pursues.
With the heart of a shepherd and a father, I ask everyone to abandon the construction of yet another Tower of Babel and to join forces in building up the common good, so that humanity will never lose its beauty, and the world once again will come to recognize the human heart as the place where God desires to dwell.
It now falls to us to face the challenges of our time with clarity of thought and responsibility. It is necessary to establish adequate regulatory tools capable of upholding justice and curbing the distorting effects of technological power.
In the era of artificial intelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. True progress always stems from a heart open to others, an intelligence willing to listen and a will that seeks what unites rather than what separates"

JUST IN: Vatican releases Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, on safeguarding the human person in the time of AI. vatican.va/content/leo-xi…
On Transhumanism and Posthumanism, Pope Leo XIV writes:
“If the human being is treated as something to be perfected or surpassed, it becomes easier to accept that some lives are less useful, less desirable or less worthy. In the name of progress, ‘necessary sacrifices’ may begin to be justified, placing the burden on the most vulnerable in pursuit of a supposed optimization of the species. … For this reason, a clear distinction must be made. It is one thing to integrate technology within a human-centered, relational vision; it is quite another to be guided by an outlook that devalues human limits and promises a purely technical form of ‘salvation.’”
