@footballconfid1 Literally completely misunderstood Micah’s point. This is very different and the subtlety is important

Alan Shearer is 100% right here about the Djed Spence is incident. It is a penalty every single time unless you have an agenda against Spurs or have never played the game (or both). And I will prove it in my next quote.
Football Confidential 🌐@footballconfid1

I still don’t get how, seemingly, all match and VAR officials (both on duty for the game, and in the TV studios offering analysis) agree this isn’t a penalty… yet anyone who has actually ever played the game agrees it is a stonewall caste iron penalty 🤦‍♂️

@_tjh96 Listen to yourself - “he’s opened his leg out in front of the defender….” And what part of that is against the rules? He’s shielding the ball or lining up a shot - who knows. On your take, just running in to the box would be an attempt to get a penalty if he then gets tripped!

@Superspurs1982 How can you watch this and somehow not agree with Micah, who’s spot on, and Alan’s argument is a totally different scenario when a defending is shielding?

Shearer is bang on… DJed didn’t ‘wrap’ his leg round the defender, he stepped across him to buy the foul which is giving as a penalty 99 times out of 100…

@PaddyArsenal What they did with Harvey Elliott ..I don't want Nwaeri to go there...Another bad loan and things would go berserk

I wonder if Nwaneri on loan to Aston Villa could suit all parties. They obviously have financial restraints forcing them to sell key players. They stopped playing Harvey Elliott to avoid being obligated to buy him. Might help us get Rogers. They get a top player without spending.

@Ant08378129 Rank isn’t in my control. I’ll just pick good players playing poor teams with extremely good planning and see where I end up.

Haaland has to be £15m, Bruno has to be £13m and Gabriel has to be £8m for the game to work this season. Premium players are scarce and I’m worried that an elite team will be affordable. #fpl

@VictoryOwai Do you want Tielemans in a release clause? Do you want Digne? Players who we don’t want are the ones moving - we’ve not missed the boat on anyone we want

Arsenal fans really need to stop using the "Berta is waiting for the World Cup to end" excuse because the evidence simply doesn't support it. Manchester United have already moved and signed Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. Lucas Digne is still with France at the World Cup, yet PSG have already held initial talks over a move for him. Serious clubs don't just sit around waiting for tournaments to end before doing business. So what's the excuse for Berta? The Christos Tzolis links have been around for a while now, yet there's been no real progress. Arsenal are also interested in Morgan Rogers, but once again, nothing concrete seems to be happening. I'm trying to stay patient because I know transfers aren't always straightforward, but I won't lie... it's becoming frustrating watching other clubs act while Arsenal seem to be standing still. Hopefully Berta proves the doubters wrong soon because this window is starting to test my patience.

Why did Embolo get a yellow card for initiating contact but DJed Spence didn’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

@adamkeys_ I knew he was clutch, but look at the game state of each goal.. nearly every one was an equaliser or put us in the lead (including West Ham). Insane reliability under pressure

This is the perfect time to sell; Leandro Trossard leaves #Arsenal as a Premier League champion with many wanting him to stay. From his first season of assists to 17 game state changing goals, few players have delivered so many clutch moments. Cult hero.

@FZAFC83 The transfer window opened 8 business days ago with majority of our players and targets still at the World Cup. They’re going to have a break before joining up, you want to pay salaries for holidays? Desperate for the transfer dopamine hit?

Very reactionary but right now I feel like Berta sucks. Not even because of the other deals teams are doing but you haven’t put in any official bids or got Tzolis through the door yet? What is the hold-up, we are Champions of England and have record revenue.

Bemusing that stepping across the defender and protecting the ball is not awarded as a foul now if the defender knocks you over from behind. I am so glad that this didn't impact the result. Outstanding bit of play from Spence!

@RKTweets It’s not even close to the same as knocking it past the keeper and absolutely not 100% a pen.. how can you say it’s 100% when the next sentence is he made it happen. Worse, he made it happen by lunging over and then basically stopping his leg.. it’s a tangle that he started

On the Spence pen. It’s 100% a pen and a foul to me. Did he make it happen? Yes. Was he fouled. Yes. It’s like when a player knocks it past the keeper and gets clattered - it’s the same principle. If we aren’t giving pens for that - no idea what is a pen then.

@wdavison10 @HACKETTREF Yeh because this is a natural move of someone in control. He does this then slams the breaks so they connect, Bobb hardly goes through him

@HACKETTREF Spence in control of ball and makes legitimate move to shield it by getting his leg across to ensure he stays in front of opponent. Bobb then makes fairly forceful contact from behind. Standard foul, and normally given as pen. Idea it was "clear and obvious error" is farcical.

@NUFCslacker @ToonFan14 People saying it’s 100% penalty / stonewall are the reason we can have nice things - there’s so much more nuance in this, and Spence cuts across Bobb, not Bobb going into the back of him shielding.

@ToonFan14 I reckon it was 100% a penalty, players always put their body across the ball to stop defenders getting it. Defenders always do it and fall over at the first touch to get a free kick. That pen would be given every time in the PL.

One of the most jarring things about trying to talk about football on here. People cannot speak honestly or without bias. And it’s tiresome. Spence knew what he was doing. It wasn’t a natural movement. And it wasn’t a penalty. Opinions would be different if at the other end.

@ToonFan14 The worst bit is the whole “oh so he can’t do that anymore” stuff and that any collision must mean foul / penalty - yes he can, it’s not a foul either way, it’s a coming together. It’s not basketball, lads

@MoneyHacks16 They do. It’s what the state pension budget is. It’s triple locked for inflation, but they cant just trust the s&p500, otherwise people in the 2000s would have been screwed, and what about Covid pensioners?

Can someone explain this to me? Why doesn’t the government invest: £1,000 for every newborn into a retirement account? Leave it invested in a global ETF for 65 years Assuming 10% annual returns: That £1,000 becomes roughly: £650,000 One small investment Potentially one person needing far less state pension I genuinely struggle to understand why we don’t talk about this more

@2147mill Now factor in rent inflation, which is over 100% since 2000, cost of deposits so cash flow is lower, move out costs… and you have zero capital at the end and very limited piece of mind throughout.

UK house prices vs FTSE All-World since 2000: Houses: +187% Stocks: +340% and stocks didn't need a £30k deposit, a mortgage, or a boiler that costs £4,000 to replace. Both build wealth. One gets romanticised far more than it deserves.
