These fuel protests are because the price of fuel today is exactly what the Irish Government plans the price of fuel to be in 2029 and 2030 under its climate plans. These are but a preview of the costs they intend to impose on the public in perpetuity. Good for the protesters.

@Swim2Birbs @TimesofIsrael The British don't hate 'jews' (and all the different flavours of that religion). What 'the British' find morally unacceptable are the actions of Israeli politicians enabling the type of activities in the levant Europe remembers all too well in the 30's

INTERVIEW: As a “little Jewish boy” growing up in postwar Britain, Simon Schama says he never felt physically unsafe walking the streets wearing a kippa. Nor, he says, were guards routinely posted at the door of the local synagogue. But, notes the acclaimed historian, that’s not the experience of Jewish children in Britain today. Instead, he says, it is the most difficult time for young Jews to be growing up since the end of World War II. Parts of central London’s West End, says Simon Schama, have become “no-go” areas, with Jews wearing a kippa or a Star of David facing the risk of “being screamed at.” All of this is far removed from the world in which Schama grew up. @TimesofIsrael Elephant in room syndrome. Germans had a similar problem in the 1930s unless they were obviously anti far right. Of course jews 'have a future in the UK' - once the 1977> Likud madness is over and the more civilized Israel Schama remembers returns people will be less angry.

@Dublinmarti Since when are the working people of Ireland far right. These protesters are the people who actually work. People who have been ignored for years. It's about time the government listened instead of giving away our tax money to NGO's, IPAS etc. None of them will feed us

A family friend of mine has a black wife. He and her briefly considered moving to Ireland in the mid-90's. She, being a businesswoman, decided to scope out the environment there. She went to one of the medium-sized cities, and started mingling. Or rather, attempted to. She was met with near total societal rejection. Not overt racism, mind you, but simple rejection. The overwhelming majority of the native population simply could not see her as an equal, because up until then they had never seen a black person in their entire lives. To them she was a bizarre anomaly, something from another world. Many were surprised she spoke English with a British accent. Needless to say, she very quickly realized her prospects for employment or business were zero, and returned to Britain. The idea that Ireland was multicultural before the 2000's is blatant propaganda.
Paul Joseph Watson@PrisonPlanet

The Guardian claims Ireland was diverse and not "mono-ethnic" in 1926. In reality, it was still 97% white Irish as late as 1991. They're gaslighting you. youtube.com/watch?v=x9KK9O…

@Brey112 The Rising did not achieve independence. It was the war fought from 1919-21 that did that, and that relied far more on ex-British soldiers than communists

Apart from the sheer historical illiteracy, I always think it's interesting that the people who deny the Holocaust also really hate Jews. What an odd and unexpected coincidence.
If@Ifmyante

@OdohertyI64991 @DominicComerfor What Holocaust? The population of money lenders rose. There are no bodies. There was no infrastructure for dealing with bodies. There was no mention of Holocaust until after the war. It was fiction. A pile of old shoes does not an Holocaust make. Now do Holodomor

Why aren’t the idiots blockading central Dublin not protesting outside the US Embassy? Instead of blocking huge numbers of hard working Dubliners from getting home after a hard days work. Huge numbers of buses are stranded on or around the Quays. Does this really help?

I’ve spent a lot of time recently in Northern Ireland, and the patriotism here is something else. Watching the bands today of the apprentice boys in Ballymoney was incredibly moving, every beat of the drum carried pride, passion, and a deep sense of loyalty. Loyalty to their culture, their heritage, their history, and to this great land. You can feel it in the atmosphere, in the people, in the way they stand and represent who they are. It makes you think… England could learn a lot from the men and women of Ulster.
