The most nonsensical part of TLJ was the arms dealer who said he sold to both sides, when there's clearly zero overlap between any of their ships or equipment. It's actually created a plot hole since the first movie, why doesn't the empire search the planets who make the x-wing.

@Brien_Jackson HUH? That narrative choice would have driven the most rabid element of the SW fanbase even more insane. We would have been asked to believe that Palpatine just inexplicably left his former master alive, and just waiting around for the possibility to reclaim his authority.

Probably the only thing that could have saved TLJ from a narrative standpoint is if Johnson but the bullet and went with the "Smoke is Darth Plargius" route but he got annoyed by fan theories and basically spiked his entire script over it

The Force Awakens domestic gross was $937 million. No other movie has come close to that. There was a lot that movie did wrong, but it did some very fundamental things right to get that many people to see it. And then Rogue One was very entertaining and definitely made for Star Wars fans. I think people forget how great things were looking after Disney's first two movies and how much anticipation there was for The Last Jedi which most people assumed was going to be The Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy, improving on The Force Awakens's decent start. But The Last Jedi was like, "Everything you liked about The Force Awakens? That was dumb. We're doing something different."

In Trump+17 IN-05, State Senator J. D. Ford will be the Dem nominee against Victoria Spartz. VERY tough lift here, but not an impossible one in a blue wave. Worth noting: Spartz isn't taking reelection seriously, raising a pathetic $17K last quarter, vs Ford's 210K.

@ok_post_guy If the Dems had been able to keep some of Mark Kirk/Dan Coats/Dean Heller/Cory Gardner/Dan Sullivan/Thom Tillis/Joni Ernst out of the Senate then they'd have had numbers to seat Garland and likely block Barrett, even if the nothing else major changes as a result.

@ok_post_guy Breaking it gave us FBI Director Comey, which gave us Trump, and the GOP gaining a majority in 2015 gave us Gorsuch instead of Garland (which aided in giving us Trump *again*), Kavanaugh, and especially Barrett, and allowed them to block a real trial for *both* impeachments.

@bigseb31213 No. The senate doesn't matter all that much. All you need is one house, and the Presidency. We're not going to be able to impeach Trump, and on anything where we'd get close Collins would be voting for it.

@CentristMadness Something to be said for the fact that Rey voices the belief Kylo can be redeemed, and bails on a disillusioned Luke over it after everything it took to find him. Luke's probably spent a lot of time hoping that's true, too, especially after what happened with Vader.
