Trump on not having received the Nobel Peace Prize yet: “I think it’s been a major embarrassment to Norway. I don’t know what Norway has to do with it, but that’s where the committee is located. A lot of Norwegian people. And it’s been a very big embarrassment to the country of Norway. Whether they have anything to do with it or not, I think they do. They say they don’t”

Two kids knocked on my door offering to rake my entire yard for $10 total—and what I did next changed how they'll see hard work forever. It was a Saturday afternoon when I heard the doorbell. Two boys, probably around 11 or 12, stood on my porch holding rakes that looked almost too big for them. The taller one cleared his throat nervously: "Excuse me, sir. Would you like us to rake your yard? We'll do the whole thing for ten dollars." I looked past them at my lawn. Leaves everywhere. It was going to be at least two hours of work, maybe three. "Ten dollars each?" I asked. They glanced at each other. The shorter one shook his head. "No sir. Ten dollars total. We'll split it." Five dollars each. For hours of hard labor. I could have said yes. I could have gotten my entire yard raked for pocket change and called it a teaching moment about negotiation. But something about the way they stood there—hopeful, polite, willing to work—reminded me of myself at that age. Hustling. Trying. Just wanting a chance. "Alright," I said. "You've got a deal. Get started." For the next two and a half hours, I watched those kids work. They didn't cut corners. They didn't complain. They raked every section, bagged the leaves, and even swept off my driveway without being asked. When they finally knocked to let me know they were done, they were sweating, exhausted, and smiling. I walked out with my wallet. "You boys did incredible work," I said, handing them four twenty-dollar bills. "Here's your payment." The taller one's eyes went wide. "Sir, we said ten—" "I know what you said. But I also know what two hours of quality work is worth. You earned every dollar of this." They stared at the money like they couldn't believe it was real. Then the shorter one looked up at me and said quietly, "Thank you. Really. Thank you." As they walked away, I heard them talking excitedly about what they'd spend it on. And I realized something: we talk a lot about teaching kids the value of hard work, but we don't always show them that hard work actually gets valued. Those boys didn't ask for a handout. They offered a service. They showed up. They delivered. And in a world that sometimes feels like it punishes effort and rewards shortcuts, I wanted them to walk away knowing that good work doesn't go unnoticed. If you work hard, if you show up with integrity, if you give your best even when nobody's watching—good people will see it. And they'll bless you for it. That's not just a lesson for kids. That's a lesson for all of us.

Elite Ukrainian soldiers killed during award ceremony — The Telegraph A Russian missile struck an award ceremony in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region on November 1, killing members of elite Ukrainian military units. According to The Telegraph, the strike hit a site where Ukrainian troops had gathered for the event. Among the dead were drone operators and infantrymen from the 35th Separate Marine Brigade. Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Svyatnenko said that his brother, a 43-year-old “elite drone operator” who had fought in Krynky, Kurakhove, Maryinka, and Krasnohorivka, was among those killed. The Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the attack and said an investigation is underway. Preliminary reports suggest negligence in organizing the event may have contributed to the tragedy. While the official death toll remains undisclosed, Suspilne cited witnesses saying at least eight soldiers were killed and 40 wounded, with six still missing. “Most likely, we were betrayed. The missile hit about 15 minutes after the ceremony was supposed to start. We were standing about 100 meters away from the torches. Suddenly, an Iskander hit the spot where the ceremony was to be held. We heard nothing — just a massive explosion. One guy’s leg was shredded, another’s shoulders. We were lucky to be waiting off to the side. Everyone near the torches — gone,” a Ukrainian soldier told reporters anonymously.

When it was all on the line, winner take all, Lewis Hamilton was the best driver and he delivered that day. He had the win and subsequently the championship stolen from him through an egregious disregard of the rules. Lewis Hamilton will always be an 8x champion in my eyes.
sim@simscircuit

Susie Wolff: "I was so upset in Abu Dhabi [2021], and not because Max won, he was a deserving champion, it's nothing against Max, it was the way it happened, the fact that Lewis was so deserving. On that day he was the better driver, you know, he was winning that race. So it really upset me." "But Toto's really good about getting his emotions in check quite quickly. And even when Lewis left for Ferrari, I got upset quite quickly as to how it was done, but he said, we're going to be okay, you know, we're going to be friends with Lewis, and this is all going to be okay, just give it time. And he's really good at always seeing the bigger picture and not allowing his emotions to overrun." "I mean, you mentioned the throwing of the headphones, there's also terror Toto, where he can be really angry and really, I don't want to be the other person on the table when he's in that mode, but he's pretty good at keeping the emotional side in check." 📹Road to Success podcast / host: Benedict Fowler [The question asked was: 'When you and Toto come back from a race, lets say Abu Dhabi 2021 or a situation, something extreme pressure...' to which Susie first responded with 'Let's not talk about Abu Dhabi 2021. I try not to go back there.' The follow up question then: 'But is that not just because of what happened on track, but is that because of off track? Because that must have been super hard, dealing with that, the aftermath, right? The emotions....']
