🚨FRAUD ALERT🚨 The owner of a telemedicine company pleaded guilty today to leading a $46.2 million Medicare fraud scheme that lasted more than six years. Court documents say 43-year-old Christopher Harwood of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, owned and ran TelevisitMD. He and his co-conspirators used aggressive telemarketing to target Medicare patients and convince them to accept orthotic braces and genetic tests they didn’t need. Harwood paid doctors to approve the orders. Those doctors did not follow Medicare rules for telemedicine visits, had no real relationship with the patients, and often signed the orders without any meaningful interaction.
