I think GPT 5.5 will beat Claude Opus 4.7. This model is a leap. Testing live the second it drops.

@bcherny @ReadySetBrian Man if literally everybody tells you that the experience is not good and Claude is degrading continuously, maybe try to listen your user base and be honest about it. I have the 200$ plan and without using max effort is barely usable, first opus 4.6 was way better than this…

Canceled Claude max today, @bcherny whatever happened in the last 1-2 months is a significant regression. The model feels like someone from OpenAI started working on trust and safety there. Opus thinking is significantly worse. Every statement is “here’s where I’d push back on that” and then proceeds to rattle off the most inane list of confused counter arguments. It was perfect 3-4 months ago!!!

Opus 4.7 is really good, except when: - You cross 200k tokens - Have any room for misinterpretation in your prompt - Steer too many times - You give it any reason to doubt itself, and it overthinks everything you said and burns through it's entire context window changing a bool

@PawelHuryn Man I had to put it on max effort because on medium and high is retarded, only at max is usable. 4.6 at high was on the same level.

Opposite experience 4.7 is smooth when you lead with intent. Short CLAUDE.md. Strategic context up front. Fewer rules per turn. Less scaffolding, better output.
