Happy to present the final animation for my Facial Performance class at @AnimSchoolTweet! It's a more subdued shot than I'm used to so there was definitely a challenge, but I'm happy with how it turned out! #animation #3DCG #3danimation

Aside from clear re-treading of previously walked ground, Force Awakens does genuinely have a lot of really solid and effective filmmaking in it.

Crazy to think just over a decade ago this teaser dropping was the biggest deal ever. The entire world stopped when this was revealed. I watched it every day. Now, a new Star Wars movie is in theatres right now and I just don't give a shit. It's genuinely saddening to me, man.

Borderlands was a disaster for gaming and I'm tired of pretending it wasn't. A crocodile should die in a few sword slashes or a single pistol shot to the head. Period. Giving everything spongy health bars is painfully unfun.

Okay, here's where George Lucas went wrong: So first, he called the antagonist group the Trade Federation. The average viewer should immediately understand their function and role in the galaxy, right? This is what we call economical storytelling. They're the TRADE FEDERATION. Wrong. The average viewer is too stupid to understand this. And it gets worse from there. Because even if the average viewer WAS able to understand that the Trade Federation is, in fact, a powerful group controlling trade in the galaxy, they would then immediately become confused by the concept of the Trade Federation blocking the flow of trade to a planet. This is because the average person is too stupid to understand the concept of foregoing immediate gratification for the prospect of long-term gain. So the logical implications of what the Trade Federation is doing, which would be obvious to most of us intelligent viewers who understand bargaining leverage, would still be completely beyond the capacities of the average viewer. Basically, Lucas wildly overestimated the intelligence of the general audience, and left too many failure points where the average viewer would become completely lost. It's his own fault really. We cannot blame the stupid for their own incapacity. They can't help it.

@zemthings @_LouieG_ It's pretty tough in Vancouver still. I've been lucky enough to get two contracts at a studio in the past two years, but it's still hard to get a foot in. Theres also no chance of running your own show, because Canadian animation is almost exclusively working on US properties.

@_LouieG_ You’re better off if you live in Canada, Australia, or within the EU. Hell, even Singapore or Malaysia because that’s where we outsource stuff too. Jobs have been offshored to chase tax incentives.

actually I think it's loser behavior to make fun of someone for trying to broaden their horizons. like yes we should all just listen to the same music we already like and never change, this would surely be better than letting people explore new genres to them.
