Yesterday I joined @diasporapalante FL for an art build ahead of this week’s March for Puerto Rican Independence demanding an end to the colonial fiscal control board. I painted 1 machete yellow so it could also read as a banana, connecting Puerto Rico’s struggle for sovereignty to the broader Caribbean’s history w/plantation capitalism, imperial extraction, and monocrop agriculture.
