The Economist: “China’s four richest cities (with a combined population of 84m) have a GDP per person that exceeds Japan’s. Its poorest four provinces (population 140m), meanwhile, are closer in income to Vietnam.”

@TMctwat75746@slave676@NiSiv4@JChengWSJ I've been learning the theory of economics from the Mises Institute for over five years. I don't want to waste my time on your garbage data. The same data can have totally opposite interpretations from different people.
@slave676@NiSiv4@JChengWSJ and therefore you have a major poverty problem whilst over-relying on the USD to keep your struggling economy afloat.....
Pretty basic stuff to understand......
@NiSiv4@JChengWSJ The reason why is because China pegs its RMB to the USD. It allows for its products in China to be cheap. However, it only helps with a few basic items - cheap food stalls, commute and internet etc.
Li Keqiang even admitted to this.
@TMctwat75746@JChengWSJ It doesn’t make any sense anyway. What a Chinese people can buy with 1019 RMB is way more than what an American can buy with $150
You can easily buy goods and services that would cost more than $1000 in the US with 1019 RMB
@MihaelaCotet1@SariArhoHavren China not dominate, china giving countries equal chance.
You get knife, you also get knife.
Now fight if you want. I dont care.
My picks of the major outcomes from the recent Putin-Xi summit in Beijing:
📍 For China, hosting Trump and Putin in the same week was a statement of centrality; Beijing cannot be marginalised, and it sees itself as the indispensable broker of a new international order. The two most powerful leaders went to seek favours from the emperor.
📍Xi and Putin oversaw the signing of more than 40 cooperation agreements across trade, technology, and media exchanges.
📍new joint statement on cooperation and heralded what they called their “unyielding” bond, with the statement including an agreement to increase cooperation between their armed forces.
📍This is where the summit was most ideologically significant ➡️ Putin and Xi signed a joint declaration focusing on building a “multipolar world and a new type of international relations”, a 47-page document. Xi was quoted in Chinese state media as saying the tide of “unilateral hegemony” is turning. The “multipolar world” framing is China’s ideological vehicle for legitimising its central role in the new global order.
@KobeissiLetter I remember pre-covid mainland Chinese used to walk around thinking it was a new era and that "Han Chinese" are superior. Weird mentality for the 21st century I know....
I wonder where those guys are now....haha
China's economy is losing momentum:
Fixed-asset investment in China fell -1.6% YoY in the first 4 months of 2026, slipping back into contraction territory.
The decline was driven by a -13.7% year-to-date drop in property development, building on an -11.2% decline in the first 3 months of 2026.
Furthermore, industrial production rose just +4.1% YoY in April, the weakest reading since mid-2023.
At the same time, retail sales grew just +0.2% YoY, the worst reading since China's economy reopened after the pandemic in December 2022.
This comes as car sales dropped -15% YoY, the steepest decline since mid-2022.
Meanwhile, gold, silver, and jewelry sales collapsed -21% YoY, reversing sharply from the buying frenzy seen earlier this year when surging precious metal prices drove speculative demand.
China's economic slowdown is broadening.
@JChengWSJ@ChuBailiang@amy_changchien I don't want to be rude but does anyone think Xi acts like someone who owns a factory in rural China ? If anyone has ever lived or experienced China then you should know what I mean.
Ego prevails over pragmatism etc etc
Minxin Pei, a professor at Claremont McKenna College who studies Chinese leadership politics, said: “I think Xi Jinping believes he succeeded in one respect in this summit—that is, in educating Trump on Taiwan.”

The world order is shifting away from the axis of evil. As Russia falters and 4 years of pointless aggression have won them nothing but a stronger Ukraine and Europe. Iran plays strong while teetering on some fantastical belief that holding a little Strait even matters at all. China now meeting with Trump realizing they picked the wrong team and their economy and future is crap. Maybe the enemies of peace and freedom might consider a different future...
The 2008 Olympics visit marked the first-ever meeting between an American president and a man named Xi Jinping—then not China’s leader, but the head of Beijing’s Olympic Committee.
“He was absolutely boring,” a US official said of Xi. “He couldn’t have been more boring.”
The explanation, with hindsight, is obvious: Xi was biding his time. He wasn’t going to say anything that could get him in trouble.

Although China has already peaked and slowly decaying. Hopefully we won't need to hear from you soon lol
