When Tennessee competes for jobs and global investment, companies often tell us the same thing: Our people and relationships set us apart. That was especially true in TNECD’s recruitment of Korea Zinc. Tennessee was one of 14 states under consideration, and the story was recently chronicled by @nashvillebiz. “‘My thought was, we had no shot,’” McWhorter said in an interview. “‘That first meeting was with the governor, and obviously, some impressions were made.’” Read more about how Tennessee secured this major win: bizjournals.com/nashville/news…

Let’s give a warm Tennessee welcome to @Starbucks! The global coffee company is expanding its North American footprint with plans to open a new corporate office in Davidson County later this year. The investment reflects the company’s continued coffeehouse growth and increasing customer demand, particularly across the Southeast. Additional details about Starbucks’ plans in Tennessee will be available in the coming months. tnecd.com/news/starbucks…

Tennessee is on the Road to 100, our goal to bring high-speed internet access to 100% of Tennesseans by 2028. 💯 📶 Since 2018, Tennessee has invested $1B+ to expand broadband access across the state, connecting communities, strengthening local economies and opening new doors of opportunity. And soon, we’ll announce approximately $200 million in new broadband grants that will get us to the 100% goal. This is the start of our Road to 100 campaign, where we’ll share real stories from across Tennessee about how broadband and digital literacy are transforming lives, supporting small businesses, strengthening education and powering rural communities forward. Because broadband isn’t just about connectivity, it’s about opportunity. 🤝 Join us as we continue the #RoadTo100TN.

Great to visit the Pikeville Square & local businesses in Bledsoe County to celebrate Tennessee’s contributions to America. 🇺🇸

Thank you to the @TNChamber for including Deputy Gov./TNECD Commissioner McWhorter as a speaker for its 114th Annual Meeting. We closed 2025 successfully, creating more than 8,000 new jobs and attracting companies that invested over $11 billion in Tennessee, 70% of which came from foreign direct investment. In 2026, @GovBillLee's final year in office, Tennessee is primed to take the next step forward as a leader in research and development, nuclear energy and innovation. We look forward to continuing our work alongside our partners to ensure Tennessee remains the best place to live, work and raise a family.
