The security guard was charged with simple assault.. Not assault with a deadly weapon(Like he should have if he was in the wrong). This is a classic case of, "Do something so we aren't at fault." Off Topic OTD Formula 1 - The death of Tom Pryce One of the most bizarre — and gruesome — stories in F1 occurred on this day, in 1977, at the South African Grand Prix. A track marshal crossing the main straight — to attend to a car that was on fire — was run over by Tom Pryce, driver for the Shadow-Ford team. (Ironically, the car in flames was also from the Shadow team). The marshal was carrying a 20 kg fire extinguisher, which struck Pryce's helmet: both died instantly. The video below is "relatively mild" - online there are photos with much more gruesome content. To give you an idea of the condition of the victims, they could only positively identify the marshal after gathering all the track staff and accounting for which one of them was missing.
