@TheCryptoSquire Figure out how much I need to re-learn before my inevitable Meteorology mid-term exams! And, remember how to run the audio board at KGOU-FM.

An unbelievably powerful hurricane. A strong as #Dorian when it hit the Bahamas (185mph) at landfall, and the 1935 Keys hurricane that hit south Florida (also 185mph). Maximum dropsonde wind gust over 250mph (above ground level), the highest ever recorded by a dropsonde.
Nahel Belgherze@WxNB_

After conducting a post-storm analysis, the NHC determined that Hurricane Melissa peaked at 190 mph, tying Hurricane Allen as the strongest Atlantic hurricane ever recorded based on wind speed. Absolutely historic.

That’s a whopper of a winter storm. 8000 reports and counting
NWS Storm Prediction Center@NWSSPC

@NWSSPC meteorologists issued 26 winter mesoscale discussions (MDs) in the past 48 hrs. The most winter MDs for any 2 day period in our database (2008-present). Previous record: 20 (Feb 21-22, 2011) Nearly 8000 winter storm reports issued by @NWS offices during the same period.

@julie_bibb42969 @MargoMartin47 @Vincent_Ledvina If I can get it from Texas, you can get it from Florida. It just takes the right conditions (and knowing how to read and interpret the data) That being said, seeing the aurora from Fla (which would be mostly red) does not compare to experiencing it from a place like Alaska

Confirmed! Aurora borealis visible in the Twin Cities Tuesday evening courtesy of a severe solar storm! Thanks to my friend Jay Berger for the pics. This storm is strong enough that areas farther south are also getting a chance to see the Northern Lights too! I saw a report from the Texas Panhandle with an aurora sighting! Central Texas? Anyone? Let me know! #northernlights #auroraborealis #solarstorm #spaceweather
