@BEEFMagazine highlighted a valuable protectionist theory with the extended border closure. This is not simply economics; this is principle. Markets can be rough, and people in ag expect to ride the roller coaster. But the extended closure shows that you too could wake up one morning to realize @USDA has shut you down without any consideration. Thank you, Nevil Speer, for a great article. @SecRollins beefmagazine.com/market-news/re…

Big congrats to Dr. Lucas Haag on his promotion to full professor in agronomy at Kansas State University. Out here in western Kansas, we know the value of hard work and practical impact—and this recognition reflects just that. We’re proud to see K-State faculty, including Dr. Haag, advancing research and supporting the communities we serve every day. Here’s to all the faculty earning promotions and tenure this year—well deserved. k-state.edu/news/articles/… #WKREC #KState

There is definitely an uptick in Russian wheat aphids in TX and OK panhandles in irrigated wheat from last week. Still trace to light but increasing. Finding a few colonies of 5-10, no damage found but would expect some soon if beneficial insects don’t keep in check.

Great to host @USDA Undersecretary Dudley Hoskins & have a robust discussion in Marana with local ag leaders. Agriculture - pistachios, cotton, cattle, & more - is a cornerstone of our economy. I’ll keep working in Congress to support our farmers, ranchers, & rural communities.

@USDA Nice video. Looks like @USDA does support #MexicanCattle…Corrientes in the video but to be clear, we want to cross #1 feeders from screwworm free regions strengthened by @USDA import protocols that further ensures the safety of imported cattle🐂

For all #wheat 🌾 fields in the Texas Panhandle at or past first hollow stem, there could be freeze injury. The extent will vary by field based on crop condition, moisture, stage, and duration below 24°F. Once fields reach FHS, freeze injury can be severe, with death of the growing point, leaf yellowing or burning, splitting stems, or bending of the lower stem. It will take several days to fully assess. sanangelo.tamu.edu/agronomy/agron… @TXSmallGrains thank you @WTmesonet for the great weather station network.
