Permanent Daylight Saving Time sounds nice until winter shows up. Across much of America, that means kids waiting for buses in the dark, people commuting in the dark, and millions starting their day before sunrise for weeks. Your body needs morning light to regulate sleep, mood, alertness, and health. We already tried year-round DST in 1974. People hated the dark winter mornings. Extra evening daylight is nice. But forcing the whole country to wake up in the dark all winter? That’s not healthy. Be careful what you ask for

Uncut grass keeps the ground at around 19.5°C Grass cut to 10 cm raises the ground temperature to about 24.5°C Bare ground in the middle of summer rises to over 40°C It's important to raise awareness #NoMowMay

Nothing says, “I hate you, and don’t give a rat’s rear what the majority wants” quite like the government - specifically the fool, @SenRickScott. @POTUS, sir, please don’t listen to Senate idiots. @SecKennedy

President Trump has indicated he could sign a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent.

Stop changing clocks = GOOD. Permanent Daylight Saving time = BAD. It was tried in 1974 as an experiment and was so unpopular Congress cancelled the experiment before it was over. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Permanent Standard Time (my HB119) is the healthier, more geographically appropriate choice. And it's already federally approved. @SaveStandard @SupportStandard

Later sunsets—by misaligned time zones or by Daylight Saving Time—correspond to later bedtimes, less sleep, more heart attacks, more obesity, more cancer, more diabetes, more accidents, and lower wages.

One nuanced point about DST - it used to ONLY happen once there was enough daylight that the mornings wouldn’t be so affected. It would shift when the sun would rise between 4:30 and 5:30 so “springing ahead” wasn’t as drastic as the sun would rise at 6:30 max. And then we would shift back when the days got shorter and just stick with the sun. The real issue came when the gold and candy lobbies pushed for DST to begin almost a month earlier and over a month later to accommodate Halloween. Consumerism trumped human health. I hate changing the clocks too but I’d be more amenable to doing it June - mid September than almost 3/4 of the year!

Permanent Standard Time!
