Just found this official decree from the Washington Governor’s Office… They’ve officially banned aimless driving. No more cruising. No more joyrides. No more “I’m just clearing my head, officer.” You must have a lawful destination at all times or face a $1,000 fine. Welcome to the People’s Republic of Washington, where even your Sunday drive needs prior approval. Governor Ferguson has solved traffic congestion by making driving illegal unless you’re going somewhere productive. Next up: banning “aimless walking,” “purposeless staring out the window,” and breathing without a five-year plan. Washingtonians, start practicing your excuse scripts now: “Yes officer, I am driving to acquire oat milk for my emotional support latte.” This is peak 2026 energy. Government: “We care about your safety!” Also government: “But first, show me your destination on this here form, citizen.” The only thing aimless now is common sense. Hopefully you got a chuckle. Now days I wouldn’t put anything past them. #AimlessDrivingBanned #WashingtonWay #BigGovernmentEnergy #JustLetPeopleDrive

@Talispetz @cdrsalamander BAH follows the market by at least a year and it's a two-way street. If housing costs go down, so does BAH. In HR, the problem is there are piles of retirees with sub-3% mortgages who can't afford to downsize. Yes, downsize.

Worst public bathroom I ever saw was at a gas station on a mountain pass in southern California. There was shit and piss everywhere. On the toilet. In the toilet, which was full to the brim. On the floor. On the walls. On the ceiling. ON THE CEILING. How does one get shit on the CEILING? Of course, it was a route illegals driving trucks took regularly. And run by an illegal.

🚽 Japan's public toilets are the cleanest on Earth. You think it's the cleaners? Wrong. 👎 It's the users. Nobody makes a mess. No cameras watching. No fines waiting. Still, they think of the next person. 🙏 Not fear. Not rules. Just one quiet thought: 「May the next person feel good using it.」 That's it. That's the whole secret. ✨ One small kindness, repeated 125 million times a day. That's how Japan won. 🇯🇵

Let me explain the hero worship to you, plainly. > He SINGLE HANDEDLY showed established car companies that there was a huge demand for electric vehicles. > He re-ignited American dominance to orbit. Before SpaceX was a big thing, we depended on RUSSIA for orbital insertion. RUSSIA. For Texas, specifically: > Gigafactory was one of the largest construction projects in history > Thousands of manufacturing and engineering jobs came along with it. > secondary supplier boom for the gigagactory (batteries, etc) > Made Starbase, TX an aerospace hub. Overall, Musk brought around 20 billion worth of economic benefit to the state's economy in the last few years, at a cost of somewher ebetween 150-300 million (i'm guessing a little bit, but it's way under 20 billion) I'd say its a steal. So yeah, hating on one man who brought so much benefit to the state, and wanting to take more of his money to pay for more communism is totally on-brand for a democrat.

Wtf is with this hero worship? Bro builds exploding rockets using OUR tax dollars to do so when we can barely afford the gas it requires to get to work, and yet, you have people like this… He built a space station. He can pay taxes on it. Like every single other Texan does.

Broette.... Where is this energy for all the oil and gas companies in your district? Crickets? The exploding rockets are putting our national and commercial infrastructure in space because NASA and others simply cannot. The big 3 defense/aerospace companies are the ones robbing us. They wasted billions. They couldn't even get our astronauts off the damn space station. You can't be a serious person... Like not even closely serious.

@ShamashAran Most are going to be a natural gas powerplant model anyways. The newer ones anyways. Which makes sense because the US basically has a stupidly ridiculous amount available. Nuclear will/would be cool but until we get the regulatory stuff fixed, it's probably never going to happen.

@WindowsLatest Bro, Apple computers are supported for like way less years than average, and the latest macOS and iOS are infamously burning through battery like it’s no tomorrow compared to previous updates. It’s not a model Microsoft should follow.

Microsoft VP fires back at Windows 11's new speed trick critics: "Apple does this and you love it." Windows 11’s hidden Low Latency Profile is getting dragged online, but the criticism misses the point. Windows Latest has tested the Low Latency Profile, and it truly works. When you open the Start menu, a menu, or an app, Windows briefly boosts the CPU for 1–3 seconds so the task finishes faster. On budget PCs, that can make the whole OS feel much snappier. Some users called it a “band-aid,” but Microsoft's Scott Hanselman pushed back and explained that macOS and Linux already do similar things. Modern systems boost CPU speed for interactive tasks because responsiveness matters. "Let Windows cook," Microsoft's legendary dev Scott Hanselman argues in defense of Windows 11's upcoming feature. Of course, Windows 11 needs to be optimized at the code level, but the answer is not “don’t boost the CPU.” Microsoft needs to do the best of both worlds. That means it needs to optimize the code, reduce bloat, and use modern scheduling tricks to make Windows feel fast again.

He's right that people don't dance anymore. This isn't that recent. Like fifteen years ago I started noticing that millennials were especially stiff and awkward when they danced. They danced like someone was watching, because of course someone was. My gf at the time scoffed when I observed that her generation had internalized the police state, considering this an aspersion upon her cursed generation, but I think I've been vindicated. The fix is simple: prohibit phones in bars and nightclubs. Bouncers should confiscate them at the door, and anyone caught smuggling one in should be kicked out. Not only would this turn the club into an unsurveilled blank space, it would also force people to talk to one another. Clubs that do this will be very popular.

“Lately, I’ve been thinking about smoking. All the time,” writes author Xochitl Gonzalez. “With each passing day of this absolutely deranged year, my desire to contemplate how to make sense of it all while puffing on a cigarette grows.” Part of this smoking thing is a yearning for the past, admits Gonzalez. Not in an effort to recapture her youth, but to recapture an approach to time and life. “I can’t personally slow down technology or fix media or the demands of capitalism or any of the other existential things that have crept into our lives,” she writes. “But maybe what I can do is stop what I’m doing, ask somebody to come outside, and take five minutes to slow down with me while I engage in the very dangerous act of holding a flaming stick to my face. This could be my rebellion.” Read Gonzalez’s full essay: nymag.visitlink.me/55vbET

My feet are foot-shaped, a fact that baffles most shoe manufacturers. Thus, I have always bought 12-Wide boots to fit my size-11 feet. Then I tolerate an extra inch of useless shoe sticking out in front like swim fins. No more. Last week, I bought these in Size 11W, on the recommendation of Rose Anvil, the youtube boot guy. They are built the way boots should be built, so, for example (unlike my last pair of boots) the soles won't peel off. These old-school boots must be broken in over several days, which I have now done. 5 stars. Would recommend. I'll link them in the replies. (I have no connection and make no money on sales.) Bonus: They are waterproof, and as a wise man once said, when your socks are dry, you have most of what you need. youtube.com/watch?v=J5Sn-A…
