I failed at introducing a Smart Failure award in the #NHS. But when failure is smart we learn from it. And now it seems I’m not too shabby at Smart Thinking. Only a tad OVER EXCITED #changeninja 🥷

@bookingcom 5/ Filed with: 📋 ICO — GDPR breach 📋 Action Fraud — false no-show filing 📋 Trading Standards — hidden charges 📋 CMA — unfair terms @Bookingcom's "fine print" admission is now exhibit A in every complaint. Women travelling alone deserve better than this. RT 🔁

THREAD 🧵 Last night I was refused entry to accommodation I'd paid for. As a lone woman. In the dark. In the rain. Here's what Spacesavers at Figtree Lane, Sheffield and @BookingCom did. And why it matters.

@bookingcom 4/ It gets worse. After refusing me entry, the property filed a NO-SHOW report against me with @Bookingcom. . He turned me away. You cannot report a no-show for a guest you personally refused entry to. This is now with Action Fraud.

@bookingcom 3/ They also confirmed a £50 cash deposit requirement. That charge appears NOWHERE in the property policies shown at booking. A hidden charge. Unlawful under UK consumer law. And @Bookingcom just told me it's acceptable because it's in "fine print."

@bookingcom 2/ "Fine print" is not a defence. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, material conditions — including cash deposits — MUST be prominently disclosed BEFORE you book. @Bookingcom just confirmed in writing they know it was buried. That's the violation.

@bookingcom UPDATE 🧵 @Bookingcom just responded to my complaint about being refused entry & left alone in the rain as a lone female traveller. Their response — in writing: "such requirements are in the fine print of the property" Fine print. Their words. Not mine. 👇

5/ Filing with: 📋 ICO — GDPR 📋 Trading Standards — Consumer Rights Act 📋 Action Fraud 📋 CMA — unfair hidden terms Spacesavers at Figtree Lane, Sheffield. Still listed on @BookingCom. No action taken. If this happened to you — report it. RT if it matters 🔁 #GDPR

4/ What this actually is: ❌ Off-platform payment demand — against @BookingCom's own T&Cs ❌ GDPR breach — no lawful basis, no privacy notice ❌ Breach of contract — paid, not delivered ❌ Consumer Rights Act — refund refused ❌ Safeguarding failure

@jennyeclair Need to cancel and redo … they added the ai bit without asking you . You can get the non ai version but I think you have to cancel it first to let it give you the option for the classic version at the same price as last year . Another scam

Ok, rare request for cosmetic help here. My perimenopausal face is flaky and dry, but I break out in these tiny whiteheads/blisters (?) if I so much as look at moisturiser. I can no longer handle anything harsh like scrubbing or peely masks. Any recommendations?

@awaytowellbeing Disagree …. It’s not the change that’s the problem - mostly- it’s the approach- especially when being done to us
