So, let me get this straight: ✔ Canada dares to put a tariff on electricity → Immediate “National Emergency!” ✔ America slaps a 50% tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum → That’s just “good business.” ✔ Canada taxes U.S. dairy at 250-390% → “Outrageous!” ✔ U.S. farmers getting billions in subsidies while Canada protects its market? → “Free trade, baby!” Yeah, sure. That all checks out. And now, the grand finale: “If Canada doesn’t behave, we’ll jack up car tariffs and permanently shut down their auto industry!” Translation: “I will personally destroy your economy, just because I can.” And people still wonder why America’s allies don’t trust it anymore? ⸻ The Real Game: Politics, Not Policy This isn’t about trade. It’s about playing big, dumb, alpha-dog politics where tariffs are just Twitter tantrums with economic consequences. The game is simple: ✔ Start a fire. ✔ Act shocked that it’s burning. ✔ Demand everyone puts it out your way. And if they don’t? If the U.S. was a guy at a bar, it would be the drunk who starts fights, then cries when he gets punched back. ⸻ The “National Emergency” Gimmick And of course, the Trump Special™—calling anything he doesn’t like a “National Emergency.” Tariffs on electricity? National Emergency. Too much rain in Florida? National Emergency. Starbucks runs out of pumpkin spice? CALL IN THE NATIONAL GUARD! But hey, it’s great branding—turn bad decisions into crises, then pretend you’re the only guy who can fix them. ⸻ The Bottom Line This isn’t about trade. This isn’t about America First. This isn’t even about Canada. This is one man treating global trade like a pro wrestling promo, threatening an entire country because his ego needs a win. And the best part? By next week, it’ll be something else. Maybe Denmark didn’t send enough Legos. Maybe Mexico won’t pay for the wall—again. Maybe Canada refused to call him “Sir” in a phone call. Either way—someone, somewhere, will be to blame. Because that’s how the game works. And the crowd keeps clapping.

Another Russian missile strike against Ukraine. Cruise missiles, ballistic missiles. According to preliminary reports, 93 missiles were launched, including at least one North Korean missile. This was one of the largest strikes targeting our energy infrastructure. This is Putin’s “peace plan”—to destroy everything. This is how he wants “negotiations”—by terrorizing millions of people. He is neither limited in long-range capabilities nor in acquiring the necessary components to produce missiles. Oil gives Putin enough money to believe in his impunity. A strong reaction is needed from the world: a massive attack must be met with a massive reaction. This is the only way terror can be stopped. If leaders fear responding or become accustomed to terror, Putin sees it as permission to continue. Patriots are needed to shoot down these missiles and prove that terror will not achieve its goals. Sanctions against Russia for the war must be strengthened to genuinely impact Russia’s missile production. Putin won’t be stopped by empty talk—strength is what is needed to bring peace. Strength that is not afraid of its ability to confront and stop evil. The world can stop this madness, and to do so, it must first stop the madness in Moscow that has been ordering terror for over 20 years. Strength is what is needed. Ukraine is grateful to everyone who is helping.

Russian assets currently frozen abroad total around $300 billion. They must be put to use in support of Ukraine. This is a historic opportunity to make the terrorist state pay for its terror. The Russian elite and leadership do not care about human lives, but they do care about money above all else. For them, losing assets will be the most painful loss. They will sense the true strength of the international community and see that the world is stronger than terror. The decision to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine will be an entirely just and legitimate response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine. It will send the right message to all would-be aggressors around the world: attacking another state does not pay off; it makes the aggressor pay. I encourage partners to move quickly on relevant legal frameworks. This year, we must achieve tangible progress toward using frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine. We firmly rely on G7 leadership on this matter.
