I set up bookkeeping as an optional item on Ignition when I sent out my engagement letters for everyone and it is really surprising how many people are signing up for the first time. I really should be offering more services to people in general apparently.

@ShaynaCPA Are you using any of microsoft agents or ai offerings? I trained a few readers with success but lost my trial.

Regarding AI: I’m wondering how will all of the AIs work together? I’m going to pick one central AI, but every software is building its own. Are those like sophisticated “agents” that will play nice with your main AI? I’m going to need unselfish AI to make an ecosystem work, right?

@patrickdichter I thought I remembered you had a cold email post! If so, what segment does that fall under? Been fun following your journey. Congrats!

We brought on 67 small business clients for bookkeeping and tax services this year. We spent $95k on marketing and here's which marketing channels brought the most clients:

Tip of my tongue: "what's the phrase for..." GPT struggles. Claude gets it first try. Claude is so much better at idiom.

What’s the most effective for cold outreach at scale (per day)? 100 emails, 50 snail mail letters, 25 phone calls, or 5 in person visits? Open to suggestions

@jrklint @CaseyMericle I don’t think so, owner could be taking out distributions, which would drive down basis? Per usual, it prob depends and devil in details (entity type, sale type - asset v equity). Haha maybe on-brand, but maybe not.

The olds shouldn’t sell their property Why? They’re gonna lose 40% Uncle Sam gonna take his slice Instead master lease it to someone else Why? Because you’ll skip the tax upon death The kiddos will get a step-up in basis

@CaseyMericle I always thought so too. But a family members financial planner has them “selling” the business to the heirs. Deeply discounted but still I wonder how it works.

@SportsTaxMan, do you know if the fine is pre or post tax for wages?
Enaii@Enaii___

@MattVerderame The important part is that Pacheco is taxed on his income regardless of the fine. He still pays federal, state, and SS tax on the $58K. The fine is a net negative for him. $58k income $20.7K federal tax $3K MO State Income Tax Brings home: ~33K Fine: $45K Total: $-12K 🥴

@tayarndt I couldn't message you, but I have been loosely following your journey into AI. I thought you had bkeep co as well. If so, are you leveraging at all? I was curious about setting up local llm to train.

Best use case for AI = setting up an @elevenlabs voice agent to call the local @handelsicecream to ask when candy cane/peppermint is coming in...twice a day with different voices until they make it.
