@TechTonicss @jjfromroe @NunoAshfield @DiscussingFilm Sure you can't have it be 1:1, but the no concept translates exactly between mediums. A good director understands how to pay homage and translate details in a memorable way without sacrificing the info given to the viewer

First look at first-person POV in Zach Cregger's ‘RESIDENT EVIL’. Zach Cregger has said that the film include shooting action sequences with first-person POV.

@Zebitus1 @jjfromroe @NunoAshfield @DiscussingFilm Now that’s not really what the other person said now is it? He said the movie should be framed like how the games like original re2 did. That would be awful from a viewers experience. It works in games cause it’s interactive and it builds tension. You lose that in film

@TechTonicss @jjfromroe @NunoAshfield @DiscussingFilm The best films include unnatural cinematography. The point of the camera is to show exactly what you need to, modern films tend to not understand that the best shots come from leading viewers on and experimentation in the medium, hence why films like The Shining still hold up

@LeftMyHeartOnD Twitter user discovers stories are written so that things work out for characters when they need to in order to keep the story going 🤯. The decline in media literacy has caused people to believe that stories need to resemble real life, and not just be stories 🤦‍♂️

Super convenient plot device btw. cause what exactly were Hughie and MM gonna do against Oh-Father if Ashley hadn’t brought this super specific sex toy and left it out in the open for anyone to see

@xAdamxLix Kessler gave an entire 5 minute speech to tell you that Butcher wasn’t gonna stop, and you guys let a 3 second scene overrule that. It was a moment of hesitation, not change 🤦‍♂️

@legendaarykay I believe the point of Butchers death in the comics is that Butcher actually wants Hughie to kill him, he wants to die. But in the show we see he starts to let off the detonator, making it seem like he shot him for nothing.

@NunoAshfield @DiscussingFilm No, I mean intentionally framing shots like the classic games did. Locked angles, wide compositions, characters moving in and out of frame, building tension through camera placement instead of constant motion.

Zach Cregger on the divided reaction to his 'Resident Evil' film 🧟‍♂️ "There are so many people that clearly really want the video game, meaning the characters and story from the video game, and anything different than that is really not welcomed. I didn’t realize how passionate some people were about that" "But if I did that I don’t think I’d be creatively fulfilled, and I don’t even think they would enjoy it. If I just did the story of the games, I think the most diehard fans would be bummed ... I don’t know what to do about it" (via @InterviewMag)

@TechTonicss @OP_Jacob1 @InchOrInfinity Well parsecs is a unit of distance not time, but I think they established that accomplishing in under 12 means they did actually do it over a smaller distance bc they took like a shortcut. I don’t fully remember the plot of Solo other than Donald Glover banging that droid

@DuncanS21 @OP_Jacob1 @InchOrInfinity So this is the part as the viewer where you’re supposed to go “oh that’s what the Kessler speech meant”. Butcher will always make the selfish decision even after a voice of reason is telling him to stop. Death is the only way to stop him

@OP_Jacob1 @InchOrInfinity If he had any intention of actually releasing the virus he would never have put the detonator on the table and walked away from it directly after explaining that device was the only way he could do it. He very clearly wanted Hughie to stop him.

@itsClintSteel @Soyskay96 @QTalksFtbl “Plot convenience” is an idiot’s phrase to signal their own lack of literacy. The show spent years of showing Butcher to have lost his humanity just like Homelander (hence the parallel powers) and a whole scene of Kessler saying he’s a shit human being. It was foreshadowed Lol

To start, the plot convenience of his dog dying of old age at the exact right moment to send him into his spiral. That wasn't telegraphed or hinted at earlier in the story. The chocolate scene didn't, in fact, the idea that he could lose Terror in that moment made him less violent, not more. And while the scene between him and Hughie was passable, nothing they did in the past season of the show really built to it. It's there because it was there in the comics, that's it. They didn't know what to do with Butcher or any of the boys in this season. They had a few conversations about the virus and using it to kill all supes, but that's all it was, the same conversation over and over and over again. The entire (also badly paced) 4th season built up to Butcher losing his humanity, only for all of that character development to get squashed between seasons so we could have another three "Oh Butcher, I hate you, but we gotta work together" moments. What actually softened Butcher in this season? We had a muddled plotline in the middle that didn't go anywhere. Instead of all of these retread conversations, we needed to SEE the damage supes were causing. The majority of the pain and suffering that Homelander's regime caused either happened off-screen, or was played off as a joke. The show started off by showing how supes were destructive and violent, not even just intentionally, but as a biproduct of their whole existence. That's Butcher's central argument. But since we barely see any of it, we're never really forced to grapple with this interesting ethical dilemma. Anytime they had a chance to do something interesting, they made a dick joke instead. Like when Hughie's actions indirectly killed a college kid (after he killed his dad). Was he bad or was he just hurting and caught in the circle of violence? Did he deserve it? A better show would've tied this into the central theme they're building to, but we got nothing, even after setting it up earlier in the episode. There are so many other plot threads that go nowhere that could've been used to prompt more interesting conversations and moral problems for the group to fight over. Ryan's rejection, what drove Butcher's final actions, also falls incredibly flat. The conversation was less than a minute long. There was no meaningful exploration of their complex relationship at all. It was a one-note rejection. And that's after Ryan was barely in this season at all. In a better show, Butcher would've stayed evil like he was at the end of season 4, and Ryan and Hughie would be trying to drag him back. He would've been another antagonist, something that's been building for 5 seasons. But we only really get antagonist Butcher for 10 minutes. Another massive buildup to no payoff. It's just incredibly frustrating to see the same conversation happen 10 times in the same show when there were so many ways to actually challenge the characters, make them morally grey in ways that are logical and give you a lot of empathy for both sides. Scenes that make you understand where Butcher is coming from, and at least partially agree, even if you want to see him stopped. But that's not what we got. We got a 10 minute monologue about each main character's asshole instead.

@pr1nc1p3___ Yeah they don’t get stronger. The muscle gets used to the weight and they enter stagnation. I’m not agreeing with the first guy though. Rest days are definitely not required if you aren’t going to your absolutely limit all the time

@TSnlop Again, going hard does not mean going until muscle failure. Muscle failure is when you literally cannot engage the muscle anymore. Meaning, even if your body starts producing adrenaline you still cannot use the muscle. I highly doubt they’re doing that when they don’t have to

@doctorcalf @TechTonicss @Dexerto Harvest season. No rest even if you want to. You go as hard as you can as many hours as you can, for weeks on end until it's done. You're on nature's schedule at that point.

@doctorcalf @Dexerto Well yeah what you’re describing is just exercise. The reason why the guy you replied to kinda has a moot point is cause you only need rest days if you’re pushing muscles to failure (which is what most gym goers do). Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to walk daily lol
